Americans are rude as hell. Listening to the radio today, 620am WTMJ out of Milwaukee, they said 3 people have been shot and killed there this year becoz they gave someone a dirty look!!!! A LOOK!!!

The ONLY place I like in this country is Lambeau Field and Walt Disney World!!

They are so nice and friendly at WDW!! Viva La Disney!

Can they secede and be their own country like the Vatican?? Hmmm??

That's one thing I love about the Philippines!! The people are so nice and always smiling, even though the standard of living is so much tougher there!

Gonna try again.

I'll say this about the American people in general, they were far more friendly, courteous and accomodating towards me as compared to people in towns like Delhi and Mumbai in India. Now, since I stayed in Florida and didnt get the time to move around, this could be termed as regional, since I can name a few cities/places in India which are far friendlier. However, well travelled as I am (I think 28 countries would make me so), i wouldn't rate the US as the friendliest place to visit.

From an immigration, visas and security prospective, I do believe they have gone overboard in their policies, but then, the US is the most sought after visa/entry in the world, specially for poorer people who are looking to immigrate, but its mostly imcorrect implementation that is the bane. And well, some bad apples in organisations like TSA don't really help with the perception of the obnoxious/arrogant American.

For India too though, their visa policies and procedures really suck.....so many of my friends have had minor porblems....

Yesh, they can be pretty rude, on some ports more than others. JFK, ATL and Memphis are the ones I don't like that much. Sometimes they make people feel like cattle at those airports lol... I am the USC and I don't find it very pleasant sometimes...

On Amsterdam Schiphol NL, when I am returning from visiting my SO, they interview me like two times, different officers to make sure I was there being a good girl... They even asked me for the proof of my miles program card  good thing it's on my credit card

And I almost have to give the whole biography of my SO before I am allowed to go... I felt like I was almost doing the 129F at the airport LOL

I guess they are all just doing their jobs...

Not suprised. Then again, I find myself hating all the customers when working in any service type position... the difference? Well, I was raised to be polite, so I am always nice to customers even when on the inside I am hoping to see them get hit by a bus as they leave.

edit to add: when I first brought ize here, our POE was SEA. It was f*cking horrible. Officers standing around talking sh*t about my wife! Blatantly! We had our bags searched to the smallest detail (they tried to twist the end off of a chopstick! ####### would be worth finding in there?). Not one smile or nice word. #### them. They could at least pretend to be nice while looking for the magic reason to fu(k us over and possibly ruin our lives, right?

This doesn't really surprise me.

The TSA and Customs & Immigration like to flaunt their authority around whenever they can. It's not a whole lot better for us USC's either. I remember coming back to the U.S. from Canada and the officer I spoke to was fairly rude and lacked any appreciable sense of humor (not that I told a joke; I know better than that) or personality. To be fair, in Canada, the agent I spoke to was pretty much the same, although just a bit nicer, but there wasn't a whole lot of difference.

As far as TSA goes...they're a bunch of loosely-regulated nitwits. There are rules to follow, but every airport and every screener does what they want, when they want and how they want. For instance, some TSA officers will allow unmarked 3 ounce bottles of liquid or gel; others won't. Some will take away items that fit the rules as well. Other yell and attempt to demoralize you, like Alex was describing. It's entirely a giant crapshoot, and it shouldn't be at all.

Thankfully Sujeet has not had any bad experiences at POEs. He came in with the K-1 with no hassle, and came in again with the conditional GC with no hassles.

The country as a whole, if not just talking about POEs, has rude people and nice people. Just like any other country.

Sujeet thinks people in the US are friendlier than the people in his homeland India. It can make a difference where you live in the US I guess. When I was in India, I didn't think people were that friendly (just being honest!).

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

LAX was extremely rude to John the first time he came to see me. It ruined my entire day, I was so upset. Not to mention, embarrassed. Note to Customs - this is the FIRST impression some people from other countries get of the States! *grrr*
