To contact or not to contact congressman question

Hi everyone,

I'm look for people's opinion/experience with contacting their congressman for help. We are currently 196 days or 6 mo and 14 days, which is clearly past the stated 5 months goal, however, USCIS does not think so. I have already drafted the letter to send to my KY congressman (Rand Paul). My fiancee is worried that asking for congressman help may actually make things worse. Does contacting your congressman really helps? Or are we better off to just patiently wait for NOA2? I really feel helpless here, I want to do something to help our case, but there is just not much you can do. BTW any one contacted Rand Paul office before? are they helpful? outcome?

Asking for help from your congressperson will not hinder the application process. Remember you pay his salary to represent you, therefore there is no reason not to contact him and ask for help.

Please remember that USCIS counts the first month as 0 !. So 6 months is actually 5 months to USCIS. Have you ever known the goverment to get anything right? It won't hurt to contact congressman, but do not expect much.

I understand your anxiousness to see this process progress. That being said, if you were to get you NOA2 today you would be in the minority of applicant that got their NOA2 in such a short period of time. If you application took another month you would still be in the "norm" from what I have seen. You do have the congressman in your arsenal of tools. Personally I think the congressman's office will more attention to your case when it become farther beyond the norm.

I contacted my congressman (in northern IL) and my petition was approved the next week. I think the timing worked out well for me because it happened to be the same week that the CSC starting processing I-129fs again, but I feel very confident that the contact from my congressman's office sped up my approval. I also hesitated before contacting my congressman and senators (the senators were useless in my case), but am so glad I did. I think the results will depend on the congressman's office, but I don't see anyway it could hurt to contact them. The aid I talked to seemed like she did this type of thing all the time, so might as well take advantage of it if you can

Hi! contacting congresswoman definitely helped us. we were waiting for 10 months and my husband used all ways to learn more about our case. He did infopass twice as well. the second one was really helpful. so, i do recommend you to do it and it will never make things worse. everything is going to be fine!!!!

I understand how you feel but I did contact my two senators. One called th vsc and they flat out said that unless you have a hardship ... You must wait your turn.
