HELP! US Citizen Living in Ukraine - K1, K3, Direct Consular Filing?

I'm a US citizen who has been living in Ukraine on and off for 18 months. My fiance is a Ukrainian widow. We seek the fastest, easiest way forward to get a visa to bring her and her 16 year old daughter to the US. All the advice we are getting seems conflicting? - what should we do?

We are very flexible, I am a writer and can live anywhere. I currently only have a PO Box in the US and return there every 2 months to perform a training workshop for other writers.

We are not married, but, it appears we should marry here in Odessa and apply for Direct Consular Filing?

Ideas?

You can't apply for DCF since it's not available in Ukraine. You have the choice of K-1 or CR-1 - I would marry and do CR-1. Just recognize you need to have domicile in US and be able to provide Affidavit of Support for your spouse.

WOW! Thank you kzielu - I didn't know it wasn't available in Ukraine.

Pardon my question but where do I get information on the CR-1?

I'm familiar with K-1 and K-3 but not CR-1

Thanks!

K-3 is obsolete and has been for a while.

http://www.visajourney.com/content/guides - as poster above said - best resource.

Start with : http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare

As for DCF, from Aug15 2012 it's available only in the embassies that have USCIC International Offices - list here : http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=1ac900c262197210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=1ac900c262197210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD

IR-1 & CR-1 (and DCF) Sections are at the top of the main board Rick. Scan the menu bars at top as well. TONS of great (up-to-date) info up there.

And as you're aware, you're in Ukraine bud. Eto Ukraina! ALWAYS call or visit the agency you'll deal with here. Or an email to the Consulate in this case should get you some confirmed answers.

Go to the ZAGS you'll be using to get THEIR take on which docs you'll need to get hitched. Then go to YOUR OVIR office and get the list of docs THEY will want for your TRP/PR application.

You have to be a Resident for DCF. With all the stamps in your passport they might give you a break after you get your TRP (Temp. Res. Permit) and not make you wait 6 months to file your CR-1.

Go to expatua.com for more info on the TRP/PR process in Ukraine.

I called the ACS (American Citicizen Services) office in Kiev last week and they told me that DCF is not an option in Kiev. They said that they will collect the paperwork and submit it to the US for me but that's it.

Please confirm that someone has had a DCF processed in Kiev sometime recently.
