First of all, thanks to all who have ventured before and have then generously passed on their wisdom. It is certainly much easier to understand than the countless government pages.

I am a US citizen and have resided in Thailand with my wife for 4 years now. We were actually married back in November '05 after I had lived here with her for six months. I left for contract work in March '06 and visited her here about 3 times a year for a total of around 7 weeks per year. I supported her, but did it through my own bank with her holding an ATM card. In May '09, I returned here to Thailand and moved in to the condo that I had bought back in '08. She had been living in the condo since the close on it in '08 and I had been supporting her the whole time.

I stayed in Thailand for the next four years with the exception of visiting my extended family in another Asian country over XMas. My wife went with me.

Fast forward to today. I now need to leave Thailand to obtain work. We like money and mine is running low. I did have some money that will show up on my tax return that will be filed in June and it is above the poverty level; however, the previous 2 years prior there is basically no income. I am returning to the US and will obtain work. If that work is above the poverty and my current tax form meets the poverty level, will I need another sponsor for the other 2 years where I had no income?

Second question. I qualified for the DCF and submitted the I-130 17 April. I received a notice of approval from USCIS which they mailed out on 24 April. The approval says that the visa petition has been forwarded to the US Embassy or Consulate in Bangkok. Good so far. Here is the issue. I was asked to interview in person in the US for a job. I need the job to bring my wife back plus we like money. I am now leaving on Thursday for the US and do not intend to return here to Thailand. Since the I-130 has been approved, will there be any problems completing the rest of the process without me here?

Thanks for all of your assistance and good luck to those still in the process.
