moved to different state - Address change question

Hello Everyone,

I moved to a different state - from Georgia (GA) to South Carolina (SC) due to employment. I have all documents that USCIS needs with Georgia address. Can I keep the same address when I fill I-751 or shall I enter the new ones ? I would like to keep Georgia address as I do not want any mail delivery issues.

But I will change my drivers license for SC state instead of GA. My US citizen spouse entered GA address when she filed I-864. We both are moving and concerned about which address to enter in I-751.

Members, please advise.

I would like to know if I can keep the same address (Georgia address) when filling up the form I-751 instead of entering the new address (South Carolina)

Will that create any issues as all documents that I will send to USCIS has Georgia address ? Please tell me if this is okay or not ?

So you're moving BEFORE filing ROC? Or moving AFTER filing ROC?

Either way you MUST change your address within 10 days of moving (AR-11 for immigrant, I-865 for sponsor).

If you are moving before filing ROC you can file an AR-11/i-865 and then file the ROC docs with the new address (or if you're moving close to filing time, just file with the new address).

If you are moving AFTER filing ROC then you will need to change your address. The address is in case they need to do a home visit or something. If you don't have the correct address you can end up in a world of hurt.

Mail isn't getting lost half as much as it used to.

Unless you have access to the mail at the old address why on Earth would you want to do that? Life goes on. Things change. People move. Just follow Vanessa's advice and you will be fine. The real issue is that you are not following the law by informing the USCIS that your residence has changed which can be a bigger issue later on.

It is easy to do. Just get a screen shot of the confirmation page to keep for your records.

Good luck,

Dave
