ok my wife and I are looking for some help....

We sent her I-751 in June 2012... We received our NOA 6/11/2012.... Our case is slightly different than everyone elses as we are overseas on government orders... When we submitted the paper and received our NOA we have received nothing else because we sent in the fingerprints with out original case file (done by a military base overseas)... when I call the 800 number they are able to give me no more information other than when we first asked in march and they requested us to wait 60 more days.... i know it hasn't been 60 days (its close, may 18th will be 60 days) but they say there is no way to know the status of her case.... how can this be possible? We are coming up on the expiration of the NOA extension and want to travel home this summer.... they suggested we go to our nearest consulate and explain our situation and obtain a visa to travel home... this seems insane...

Is this normal? Do I need to hire a lawyer?

I posted this in the June 2012 filers but wanted to break it out of that post to get more information.

I have also filed a letter with my senator and hoping they can get some more information.... Also, I used a local contact at the state department to contact the Rome USCIS to get more information and below is what they sent me:

---------

Service records shows no action on I-751 application, can you please verify with Mr. XXXXX if he had included the orders when form I-751 was filed?

Probably the I-751 application has been placed on hold until they are going back to the U.S.

When the active duty and the spouse return stateside, their Form I-751 can be processed. If they wish to process their Form I-751 while they are still overseas on orders, they should contact the Service Center and ask for an appointment. If Form I-751 is granted, the spouse will have to be scheduled for biometrics and will then receive a Permanent Alien Card.

If the spouse is holding an expired Conditional Card, he/she will have to contact the CBP Attache' in Rome for instruction on how to reenter the U.S

----------

To answer the questions, yes we sent the orders when we filed

It seems that even USCIS has no idea what is going on? The I-751 shouldn't be on hold to process until we go back to the states, and even it was wouldn't we receive SOMETHING from USCIS?

Did you ask to speak to an officer or did you speak to the person who picked up the phone and told you what was on their computer screen? They cannot tell you anything more than what you can see. Speaking to an officer/ tier 2 supervisor is the only way people can get actual information/ action done.

Did you call the military hotline? Or the regular line? Often the military hotline can give better help than the regular line as well if you are military filing overseas.

When you call again, ask for an ISO, and go over all this stuff with the ISO ,

and do start a service request/referral with said ISO.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

On your orders, is your wife included? If not, did she get a reentry permit before? How long have you been out of the country?

uh oh.

ISO - http://www.dhs.gov/files/publications/gc_1305658440339.shtm

Is always best to get with an ISO when there are any problems, any issues,

as

the first human that answers the phone, a CSR, cannot fix things, cannot do research, cannot request stuff.

Are there any tips for getting in touch with an ISO? They seem to not want to transfer me to one. I opened a case yesterday and was also trying to get a hold of a ISO but they said I had to wait 15 days for a response on my case. It's always wait wait wait even though its past its processing time
