2. Cemeteries don't want to bury Tamerlan Tsarnaev

For two weeks, no one claimed the body of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the elder bombing suspect who died the night he and his brother led police on a wild chase.

Now, the funeral home holding his remains is struggling to find a place to bury him.

The brothers' parents in Dagestan have said they will not fly his body back to Russia for burial, spokeswoman Heda Saratova said.

And Cambridge City Manager Robert W. Healy said he would not allow Tsarnaev to be buried in the city if requested by the funeral director or Tsarnaev's family.

"The difficult and stressful efforts of the citizens of the City of Cambridge to return to a peaceful life would be adversely impacted by the turmoil, protests, and widespread media presence at such an interment," Healy said in a statement Sunday.

Explaining his decision, he cited an excerpt from Massachusetts state law saying that "it shall be the duty of the city manager to act as chief conservator of the peace within the city."

"I have determined that it is not in the best interest of 'peace within the city' to execute a cemetery deed for a plot within the Cambridge Cemetery for the body of Tamerlan Tsarnaev," Healy said.

Tsarnaev's body now lies at Graham Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors in Worcester, west of Boston.

Peter Stefan, owner of the funeral home, said three cemeteries he's contacted said they feared reprisals. If he can't find a gravesite, Stefan said he plans to ask the government to find one.

The funeral home owner said everyone deserves to be buried.

"This is what we do in a civilized society, regardless of the circumstances," he said.

Here's the thing. If he gets a burial plot it will need to be unmarked and even then it seems like someone will find it. Just give him the proper funeral and throw him overboard. Worked for Bin Laden!

I wonder if the family will chose cremation? It might make things easier for all parties concerned. The body needs to be buried or cremated. The Sandy Hook shooter was quietly taken care of, why not this?

This is my thought exactly. There shouldn't be any debate about this.

There are plenty of mass murders buried in the US. Not to mention some high profile killers. Burying the body does not mean that his actions were condoned.

Sure, not in a sane and rational world. But that's not the world American Muslims live in. They live in a world where they have to deal with the asswipes on Fox News and talk radio.

He should get a burial if that's what his family wants.

That said, if I was the bearded old Muslim guy in charge of a Muslim cemetery, I wouldn't want this guys body there either. I'd be like, I don't need this #######!!!

To piggyback off of Spooky, we have plenty of serial killers, rapists, and all around monstrous people buried with no issues, this shouldn't be any different. Either it's all ok or none of it is.

I'm fine with him getting his burial with full Islamic rites.

But I'm also saying the Muslims who don't want anything to do with his body... I get them. I understand. If I was Muslim and in charge of a cemetery and in the position of being able to say "no" to a dead body, I'd say no to this guy too.

Because the last thing I want is Megyn Kelly all up my a**.

Wait, that might be kind of hot actually.

I understand the cemetery owners too. The family may need to go to plan B.

We're damned either way it goes. The right thing to do would be to bury the guy, but as you pointed out, the backlash would be rough. If I was an Iman, I would bury him and be done with it.

And BTW, we love some Mcdonalds.rofl.gif
