Well, not to excuse his choice of words but we don't know what the hecklers were saying. In the context of a stand-up routine where being outrageous is part of the act, he might have been sarcastic.

Has anyone ever watch Larry David's Show on HBO? He's played on the idea of blacks calling other blacks, "#######". Larry calls a black friend, "Are you my #######?" It was hilarious and it showed how odd it comes off if anyone else besides a black says it.

I haven't yet seen the video (the link is on the source site), but I would be surprised if it was taken out of context,a s you've suggested. Did anyone watch the video?

I saw the video and really can't say one way or the other. Epithets were being hurled both ways...I heard "cracker" a few times.

Dunno why, but for some reason I feel that this was all manufactured. Reports say the Kramer dude 'made amends' and also performed the next night. Could this have been a publicity stunt?

If you go to a comedy show and heckle a comedian expect to get CRUSHED. Who doesn't know this? The comedian will say anything to accomplish this. If this is too harsh please stay home and watch PBS. There's a tote bag with your name on it

I'd like to know what Michael Richards has to say about it as well as some members in the audience. There seems to be a trend with reporting where the eyeswitness has been replaced with video footage - as if the video will tell the complete story. I think you need both.

they are saying that they are upset, customers were offended etc.. they realise that people do not come out to a comedy club to be abused. Also said to sue the artist not the club so me thinks they have had a chat to their lawyers.
