My Fiance applied for the visa mid of December 2012 at Vermont Service center, when do you expect we may get approval to have an interview? It is very annoying as we are planning to get married in summer? I don't know whether we will be able to get the interview on time to confirm our wedding date beginning of September or we need to postpone it..Please share with me your advice from your experiences. It is very frustrating. I dont know what to do. Please help.

Welcome to the forum.

timeline.gif If you do that, VJ can give you an estimated approval date. Are you doing K-1 or F-1 (currently listed in your profile)? You posted in the K-1 Fiance(e) Progress Forum.

The general site recommendation is to NOT make any wedding reservations, deposits, etc., until you have the visa in your passport, in your hand. idea9dv.gif There are far too many possible delays in the visa process to be able to predict when, or if, your visa petition will be approved, let alone the subsequent visa application approval. yes.gif

BTW, we went down to the courthouse four days after her arrival and got married by a great municipal court judge.dancin5hr.gif

Good luck.

We applied in late October 2012 and we're still waiting.. I don't expect to have my visa in hand until some time in July at the earliest. The current wait time for NOA2 seems to be between 6 and 7 months for most people at the Vermont Service Centre, and then of course there is further waiting for it be sent to NVC and on to the embassy.. Medical, interview, etc. All in all I expect the whole process to take around 8 or 9 months.

You might be very lucky, but a September wedding could be risky. We don't plan to get married until October this year, and I'm waiting at least until we get our NOA2 to make any firm plans.

Hope that helps?

I highly doubt it'll be in hand by the summer. I applied mid-January, and I'm not expecting to be married in the US until November, maybe even December, allowing for the NOA2, NVC stage, the medical, then the embassy booking me an interview to having the visa in hand.

I agree that a september date is quite risky... i wouldn't put any non-refundable deposits down. My fiance and I filed in Nov 2012 and we weren't comfortable with making any wedding plans final for anything earlier than next spring... we have a venue reserved for April 2014 but were trying to wait about booking any other vendors until we have confirmation about the visa...
