Good Afternoon VisaJourney.com Caribbean Forum,

I have read and read the forums but not seen any situation like mine. I met my girlfriend/now fiancee last fall

(2012) on line., We talk and /or email every day. I went to Jamaica last December to meet her and vacation for

for a week. We decided to pursue our relationship. She applied for and got her Jamaican passport, then got

a 10 year NIV to the states. She came to visit me last month in Michigan (I was in The USVI when we started

communicating). After staying a week we decided that we would like to marry.

She is black, I am white. She is 27, I am 57. She also has an 8 year old son (who I have not met yet) but have

talked to. I have talked to different attorneys and gotten different answers, so I am asking this forum for advice,

based on your experiences.

There seem to be three options:

1. She comes here again and we marry and file (not enough history)

2. I go there and marry her and return and file for the K3 visa which looks like almost two years.

3. I file for the K1 fiancee visa and she goes through the medical and interview process there.

We have documented the visits, the calls, the photos, etc.

Thank you. Respectfully yours,

Altan

The large age difference and small amount of time you have actually spent in each other company's are significant red flags that you would need to overcome, regardless of what visa you ultimately attempt to pursue.

I would suggest you visit her again & since she have a visa she then visit you

giving you history and getting to really know each flaws, likes & dislikes.

If you file K1 petition I think she can take her child along too when she arrives to get

marry to U within 90 days. the age is not much of a problem but meeting only once

might have the CO eyeballing stuff a little bit more.

If she comes there and marry U and AOS she will not be able to visit Jamaica until

that process is completed missing out on seeing her child for a while, an 8 yr old

needs mommy.

Make sure she's informed if U have an ex, your kids names, pictures with family too is good

if you ever been in trouble, pay child support or owe taxes, it must be revealed to her

should they ask her at interview, otherwise U good to go buddy

You can marry her in Jamaica and file for CR1-spouse, during this period, she may or

may not be able to visit U, if she can show proof she will return home after visit she

wil probably be allowed. The fact that she got the tourist visa says she seem to have ties

to country & that helps, also be sure to keep boarding passes, hotels & restaurant receipts

Good luck to you both.

Yes its legal all marriages in N. America is legal which Jamaica is a part of

There are no cost in Jamaica except if you marry here you pay for license

and I think to whomever conduct the ceremony (not much I think) If you are

worrying about the time it would take then give her a visit after you file K1 for

her & child I guess its a little less time, but remember keep all records & don't

talk to other females in chat-rooms or on FB....Jamaica has a lot of interacial

couples, so feel free to visit her right after you file
