After EAD.

Hi,

I have already received my EAD Card few days back and now interview is upcoming in few weeks. I have a question for Social Security Card and number. Should I get Card before going to My Aos interview? How long it will take to get the one? What if I get Social security card and number after my Aos Interview?

Dose officer at interview ask for that to every body?

I would definitely get your SSN now. I'm not sure how much of a bearing it has at the AOS interview though.

It does not take long to get it though. If you apply at a SS office you should receive it in a week. I have heard of of people returning to the SS office a couple of days later just to find out what the number is.

The SSN is the trigger for a lot of benefits ... employment & drivers license being the big ones.

I have my interview in about 3 weeks and no EAD yet.

I'm going to wait for my greencard to get my ssn as it'll be "for work only" and I don't feel like driving 45 min to my closest ss office to change that once I get my greencard .

Shouldn't matter for the interview whether you have a ssn or not
