Here's my situation.

My mother, whom I petitioned, just had her interview recently on May 2, 2013 in embassy manila, philippines. After the interview, the US consul kept her passport and handed her a "221g form" and "reverification request request for her Birth Certificate from NSO". Upon looking at the DOS website her current status is under "Administrative processing".

So We went ahead to request the Birth cert of my mom on the same day from NSO and it's currently being processed and it's expected to be delivered to US embassy by May 10th.

We have a copy of my mother's birth cert from NSO upon looking at it we discovered that my mother's dad's first name was misspelled handwritten, which is different from what's in the certificate of live birth that I submitted along wiht the visa application papers. Do any one of you think my mom will have an issue getting a visa or anyone has experience the same thing? I heard from a different forum that error on parental's name of the one being petitioned is not a problem but I'm not convinced, I'm severely depressed at this point because I feel like my mother is not going to get a visa. I have already plans and it feels like the sky is falling on me. please kindly shed some light.

I don;t think that is a bid problem for u to be worried that much. If i were you advise ur mother to go to a public lawyer and have the lawyer make an affidavit of explanation. Explain to the lawyer the fact of the situation coz that will be stated in the certication.

My case was much bigger than yours coz i used my fathers last name as my middlename and use my mother's last name as my last name.

All i did was had the lawyer make the affidavit and i only paid less than P500 but that was in 2006.

Dont worry Administrative Processing means that (in your case) they are waiting for the new birth certificate hopefully it will indicate the correct spelling that the Embassy has for her... So as soon as the embassy gets it they will send u an email or just give them a call after May 10 to see if they get it.. Dont worry just make sure you follow all of the instructions that you are given by the embassy..k U will see your mom at the right time I am sure :) HUgs

My wife had her interview in Manila the same day as your mother . My wife told me of an older lady she tried to assist as she had noone accompanying her at the interview. When I saw your post I wondered if your mother was this same lady my wife tired to assist outside the Embassy before they went inside.

Hope all goes well for your mother.

i think you should pay attention to that other forum and NOTHING on VJ, what-so-ever.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I am almost in the same situation with my mother's case. Somehow the US Consulate could not locate my birth certificate. It did seem like the NVC lost it. Also, the police clearance did expire on the interview day. My mom was asked to bring a petitioner birth certs and new police clearance. Her passport was kept after the interview. According to the US State Department Visa Office, we should hear something next week.

I think the Administration Processing for missing documents should not take long to be cleared. Like your mom's case, I am awaiting on mine as well.

Good luck!
