1. My I131 travel permit case status is approved and uscis sent out the I797 on March 29. But, unfortunately, it never came. So my husband helped me to call them around Apr 15, not sure what exactly during the conversation, they told him they would send the notice again. Obviously it wasn't true. So I called again around Apr.27, the lady who answered told me I should wait 30 days after the mailing date and call us again.

So, on Apr.30 I called in again, and finally they gave me a referral number starts as T1b, said they will mail again, and asked me to call back if I didn't receive anything after 15 days.

Anyone here met this kind of tragic before? How long did it take to the final end?

2. And by the way, is it true without an greencard, I can't take a driving test at DMV?? My K1 visa based I-94 has been expired, and the greencard is of course pending forever, after the fingerprints taken. I booked an appointment at local DMV and they told me I don't have residencial card so can't take test, even though I can provide the ssn, and first notice about the I485. So I should just drive using my own country's license??

If you have been through this before, Please help!! Thanks!!!

Good point! Your timeline says you applied for EAD and AP at the same time. In that case, the EAD serves as a combo-card and has the AP mention that Harpa said.

You probably have the AP but just didn't know it. smile.png

About your question #2, it depends on each state. It seems that you are in California and if that's right, then you should be able to take the tests with your EAD. Look at this link: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/dl/dl_info.htm#BDLP

I think your current service referral number starts with T1B .

I could be wrong, but that's what I think.

In other verbiage, that's the receipt # on your service request.
