Good morning everyone. You know Hachemi and I live in a very rural area of Mississippi. No cool restaurants with middle eastern or north african influence. For the last couple of months one of the downtown stores was being remodeled. Sometime we would walk by and look in and their were beautiful murals being painted on the walls. Last week they had the furniture in and the windows painted with the name of the restaurant, "The Oasis." Very elegant looking for our little town of 2000 people. Anyway, we went last night and they were playing arabic style music. Come to fine out the owner is Tunisian. We ate couscous and had baklava for desert. We told the waitress we wanted both orders in the same plate. She looked at us so funny. She went back to the kitchen and told the owner how we ordered. He said I knew they must have been North African, so he brought our order out himself and sat down and talked to us. It was really nice.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Wow, Meriem, so nice for you two that you have a new ME place in town to eat . . . I think it makes a big difference when you can get out of the house and go sit somewhere else to hear music and eat some good food. I hope the baklava was good! :P

The baklava was "melt in your mouth" good. After we ate all that, the owner brought us a fruit parfait with 2 spoons. We were stuffed but we ate it all :P

OH OH this friday will be my first time to experience Black Friday! I don't work til 3pm and there is a camera I want to buy for Alexis. It is a Fisher Price digital camera made for kids. It is usually $70 and I read on the black friday website that it will be at Kmart for $55 on Friday at 6am. If you see a news clip of a crazed grandma running thru the aisles of Kmart, that's me. I think I will go on Wednesday to see where it is in the store so I can find it when I burst thru the door.

Jackie, you might want to wear some shoulder pads or otherwise protect your body from the hordes of shoving people!! :D:P

Good luck!

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5

Good morning! i had a long busy weekend. Worked at both jobs, cleaned the house, and slept 13 hours Sat-Sun. This week I am working both jobs mon & tues, FT job wed & fri, AND I am off thursday! Thank God! But I am working Sat too. So I am working a 6 days work week, and thurs will be my first full day off in two weeks! Anyway, enough about work. I don't have anything new really. Oh wait yes I do! I met up with a friend this past weekend. She told me that she thinks she is pregnant. So one night after work she called me and told me she didn't take a test yet, but Adil and I need to get moving if we want our kids to be playmates when they get older! I was like wait, You did take the test then. She did and she's pregnant!!!! I'm going to be an auntie! I can't wait to go shoping with her for her maternity outfits! Yay! I love pregnant women! They are so beautiful! Anyway, that's the only news I have today. Hope you all have a good day.

Nothing much fun here. DH and I had a pretty good weekend. We signed up for a membership at the YMCA that will start December 1. In order to get the discount through our insurance company, we need to go 12 times a month, so I'll be forced to exercise of face the consquences.

We watched Bithday Girl, and of course, I thought of VJ  Not really realistic, but another visamovie to add to the collection, next to Green Card. Anyone else have more international marriage/mail order bride/visa movies that are worth watching?

Does "Bride and predjudice" count? It's really good and cute. It kinda goes along the lines of what you are talking about.

Two day week for me, I decided to take Wednesday off to make it a super-long weekend. I'm hoping to finish up a couple of projects at work by tomorrow.

We never ended up going to see Babel yesterday. We always make plans to go to the movies, but then just lounging at home with a Blockbuster movie ends up sounding more appealing. Has anyone seen Babel yet?

Am I the only one that doesn't like couscous and baklava???

I work only 3 days this week, so I am a happy girl. Of course, as usual, the Thanksgiving feast is at my house, with me doing the majority of the work. It really sucks to be the responsible one!

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

As I understand it there are a couple of different way to make baklava but I could be wrong. The kind that I've had, which I can't stand, is drenched with honey. Blech!! :P
