Jerks who are rude to waiters

Exactly the problem. The waitress thinks, "The more I check in on them, the better my service will have been, and the better the tip we will get."

I wish they would adopt a call system in the U.S.

That is a great idea.

at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co they have this thing on the table that you flip over when you want service.. the other side says "stop Forest stop"

I'd be in favor of a low level electric shock device, kinda like a dog collar. Whe you need service, press the button and get your servers attention for sure. The patrons could make a game out of it between courses and the server who can take the most zaps gets the higher tips.

But instead of a collar, it could be inserted in the rectum. That way the shocks would get their attention.

Under/Over cooked steak tends to be the end of the world for some. The complete hatred you get from some customers is really amazing. I used to think, buddy, if this is the worst thing to happen to you today, you're doing pretty good.

When I used to bartend, the same asswipe would come in every day. He proceeded to complain about the temperature of his food and how bland it was. He would come in every day, make the other bartender cry and just be a super ####### in general to her all of the time. Well, I decided to fix his wagon. When he order his soup, I went back to the kitchen and told one of the girls on the line to nuke it in the micro for about 4 minutes at the highest temp. I then put that steaming hot soup into a cold bowl and proceeded to dump a bunch of hot sauce in it before taking it out to him. Needless to say, that guy never ever complained about how cold his soup was or how bland it was ever again. Believe me, this jerk deserved what I did to him. He always felt it necessary to make inappropriate comments about us and always degraded us and there was nothing that we could do unless we wanted to loose our jobs.

I even know of one girl who spat into his coffee and rimmed his steak around the garbage can before putting it back on his plate and serving it to him with a big smile on her face.

How did you get from A to B? If I wanted to play the fool, I would spend more time at Denny's.

The guy was an asswipe, so he deserved it. I kind of doubt decent people eating in restaurants need to worry their food will get that treatment.

If you were eating at Denny's you'd have a reason to complain. Never could understand people wanting to eat there. The few times I've been dragged there by someone, I never found the food very good.

You would be surprised. I know a few cooks, and they put in long hours and the work is boring. It is probably better decent people don't know what goes on in a typical kitchen.

I'm always nicest to people whose job I don't want or are working on days I wouldn't want to.

In the USA I always tip at least 20%, even if the service wasn't that great. Because maybe the person was having a bad day? Their job sucks and I'm just glad I got my food. I also never send food back unless it's inedible for me. Like I'm a vegetarian and some nachos came covered in beef chili. I had to send it back, and I felt terrible about it.

Here in Costa Rica you never tip. If you go to a real nice dinner and spend over $100 you can leave $4 or $5 if you're feeling generous. That's certainly not something I'll miss! I went to the USA for a quick trip in January and when I went to add in the tip I got really surprised. I forgot how much tax and tip increase the bill of a meal out!

Exactly!!!! The guy was an A1 douche and asswipe and he did deserve it. My other regulars HATED him with a passion!!! The customers that were always polite about sending food back or who always said "When you have a moment" always got the best service and their food was never messed with.
