Because I have many months to go before my approval goes through and I'm just a little tired of all the whining on here about the service centers (I've been one of them too lol). I found this graph on the uscis.gov website and I thought I'd share in case you haven't come across it. This site (visa journey) only represents a fraction of applications being processed so when we see only approximately 3-5/day approvals out of Vermont, don't get discouraged. I added up all of their numbers for the I-129F from March 2012 to February 2013 (March and April aren't posted yet). Here's what I totaled:

Completed Applications on Average per Month: 2049

RFE's (or Awaiting Customer Action) on Average per Month: 1335

New Applications on Average per Month: 1906

It looks to me they are going through 3241 files a month and able to approve 2049.

If we take 3241 / 30 (days a month), they are on average doing 108 files a day. (We rarely see more than 5 approvals a day on here with the RFE's)

Another thing is the completion rate vs new applications is interesting. If there weren't so many RFE's, people would be with their fiance much sooner. In fact, VSC would be caught up and there wouldn't be a back log. I think they will reach their 5 month goal (at least I dream about it every day) and if you look at the next few months of applications they have to get through, it's not as many as the previous months. January alone they completed over 5000 cases! Things are looking up!

Hope you all liked these stats. Here's the link and you can see the numbers for yourself: http://dashboard.uscis.gov/index.cfm?formtype=6&office=6&charttype=1

So, I was looking at the website and made a little chart. . . of course it does not mean too much but:

I matched up the "received" number with the "completed" number 5 months later and it looks good- I have no way of knowing if the ones completed 5 months later are those exact applications received, but I think they mirror each other well -taking into account RFEs, a little falling behind, and a little catching up. Again, this isn't mathematical, just fun.

oh. . . . bummer, it doesn't let me paste as an image. . .

this is it (from VSC trends):

Feb'12 received 2149----July'12 completed 1113

Mar'12 received 2295----Aug'12 completed 1633

Apr'12 received 2006----Sept'12 completed 2006

May'12 received 2240----Oct'12 completed 2547

Jun'12 received 2019----Nov'12 completed 2116

July'12 received 2034----Dec'12 completed 3351

Aug'12 received 1910----Jan'13 completed 4439

Sept'12 received 1647----Feb'13 completed 1516

4/1/13 - I-129F sent to Lockbox, 4/5/13 - I-129F received, 4/9/13 - NOA1, 422/13 - Alien Reg # changed, 814/13 - RFE, 817/13 - RFE reply, 10/30/13 - NOA2, 1/30/14 - Interview: Approved!

That chart is so confusing. According to their graph, they're saying they've already completed 4.5k January I-129Fs?

:) Shucks, didn't mean to be confusing. . . so the chart is basically the numbers from the site. Since USCIS says that Vermont has an average of 5 months for processing, I put the number of applications completed for a month next to the number of applications submitted 5 months earlier.

You are right, for VSC, they completed about 4.5K I-129F applications that were sitting on shelves in the office.

Don't worry if it doesn't make sense- it doesn't have any magical predicting powers. . .just another way to look at numbers while we wait ;)

Did you get to look at the info link that Hannah777 sent? It's very encouraging!

Hannah777, thanks again :)

also. . . .I was thinking: there are only like 23 business days in a month, and SC only work on business days so, you can even guessimate 3241/23 = 140/day

:D

Oh, I get it. The info is definitely good. I was just confused because I thought the chart meant they've completed 4.5k of JANUARY petitions and I'm like, no way as I'm a Jan filer and none have been touched. But I get that it means just I-129Fs overall from any month. Thanks for the info Hannah.

I filled my application on Oct 18th received NOA2 on Oct 22. Today (May 3rd) I called USCIS. First of all they start reading from the script. So the lady I spoke to, once she completed her a minute long monologue, I told her that its been over 6 months and I haven't heard anything back on the status of my application. Neither my case come up on USCIS website using case number. So here is what she said " At present USCIS is working on Oct 1st applications" details of conversation is as below:

Me : " I called almost a month ago and someone told me they are looking at Oct 1st applications, and now after one month I am getting the same answer"

Reply : Yes that's what they have on system and it could take that long, you are still under regular time limit.

Me : What about the missing status on the webstie

Reply : Weare having system issue

Me : Since how long ?

Reply : Its been around two years now.

Me : Is there any ETA when you expect the system to be fixed as 2 years a long time since a national system is not working properly ?

Reply : don't know, I am not in IT and hang up

Great !! I remember the cheque was cashed in two days and no update on status till now... so frustrating.... argggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh ranting33va.gif
