I am not upset about the money aspect. It's just more the fact that there is no order to the process. We need to hang in there and be patient. I'm going to start working on my forms and documents so i can have most things ready by the time the NOA2 comes. I'm starting on the police check this weekend as that takes a while to process.Hang in there!

for me if I pay for a service I expect to processed in a fair manner. I get my background checked regularly due to my profession and it never takes long so so them to tell me that it's the background check that determines who gets processed first don't sit right with me.

I have all my papers together for my fiance just waiting on approval

They run a background check on your fiance. Depending on the country and whether that country has made its records all computerized -- THAT is what can hold up a petition. Also keep in mind that some countries tend to process faster than others, so keep an eye out on other petitioners from Jamaica. You might just be petitioning for a country that has a slow turn around.

Hey d3adc0d3

I thought the background check was on the petitioner initially then after approval then the beneficiary is asked to get a police certificate to proof they have nothing dubious in their past. Although now that you say this some country's that are computerised can actually provide information on the beneficiarys records as well. It would seem visible that if they have access to that information they would check both parties background.

From my understanding (which I could be mistaken, so if there's a senior VJ'er, correct me if I'm wrong), they run a thorough background check on the petitioner at the point of the application, but they also run a routine one on the beneficiary. The police record is to ensure that their background check didn't miss anything, and to provide a more complete check. Background checks are not just a criminal background. It's checking all that information that you provided (name, address history, parents, job, etc) and making sure they are who they say they are. Making sure they're not on any ban lists, wanted lists, or known criminals.

I would agree with you that it would make sense to not only check that the petitioner has nothing criminal in their background also that the beneficiary is not a threat to national security.

Security & Background Checks

Posted on February 4, 2011 by Eric Chapman

Security checks or background checks are initiated by the government at various points in the immigration process. When the I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiance(e) is filed, the USCIS conducts name-based background security checks on both the petitioner and beneficiary against the Interagency Border Inspection System (IBIS). IBIS information checks include an inquiry of five National Crime Information Center (NCIC) databases, which include the Convicted Sexual Offender Registry; the Foreign Fugitive; Immigration Violator; Violent Gang and Terrorist Organization; and Wanted Persons files. The databases within the NCIC are maintained by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Depending on the immigration and criminal status of the petitioner and beneficiary, other database checks may be completed using IBIS, including Central Index System (CIS), Computerized Applicant Information Management System 3 (CLAIMS 3), Nonimmigrant Information System (NIIS), and Advance Departure Information System (ADIS).

Following the IBIS inquiry, the USCIS also completes a FBI criminal database name-based security check using the National Name Check Program (NNCP) on all petitioners and beneficiaries.

Once the USCIS approved the petition, it is sent to the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC completes administrative processing on the petition and sends it to the US Consulate having jurisdiction over the petition. At some point, either the NVC or the US Consulate will complete a screening of the beneficiary using the Consular Consolidated Database (CCD). The CCD includes the Consular Lookout and Support System (CLASS). CLASS includes the FBIs NCIC, NIIS, and other criminal and immigration databases.

As anyone can see, the number of security checks that petitioners and beneficiaries must pass is enormous. Generally, all checks use the following information:

Full Name (First, Middle, Last);

Date of Birth;

Country of Birth; and,

Gender.

In order to avoid a false hit, petitioners and beneficiaries must ensure that all information presented to the government is specific and accurate.

Hey there sorry you got a rfe. On the positive side it's probably something simple to fix. We got approved 29th July none of our pictures had a digital date. What we did was to write who was in the pic, the date, where we were and what we were doing at the back of the pictures we sent. we sent a total of about 20 pics like that. But you can send less as long as you add the above info at the back.

Also send recipts if you have not yet sent. E.g shopping,restaurant,hotel, anything where you and your fiance used your credit card and have a recipt as proof. whiles you were in her country.

Plain tickets stubs, iteniary, payment reciepts for plain ticket, passport copy, luggage stubs.

Itbmightbalso just be a common rfe that people get like letter of intent not stating that you intend to marry within 90 days one written and signed by you and one written and signed by her.

Could be a passport picture issue. Hopefully you got the sizing right. We got ours done at Office Depot while I was there and I took the measurements and made the lady takeing the pictures adjust and re measure 3 times before paying $21.00 for the pics lol.

Hope this helps

I hope you send your reply in quickly and get your approval soon. Keep us updated.

Keep us updated.

we did send the letter of intent to marry for each of us and signed. we send also a copy of the passport and the entry stamp on it.plain tickets and boarding pass was also included. we get our pics done in a photo studio shop, they have the exact size required for visa but i guess we will know if we have that letter.lol!ridiculously, my fiance send one picture oops8rh.gif thats why we kinda know that will be included in the letter.

Well, we will prepare the rest of the receipts that you said this weekend.

Thanks and i'll update soon!

hey guys! we got an rfe last august 14, 2013 and we are now trying to think of any ways on how to validate the pictures that we are going to send. It doesnt have a digital date on it so we are kinda in doubt if they gonna accept it if we will just put a date on the back. we dont have the mail yet for it but we are now preparing for the possible evidence to send. im telling my fiance to just send even the ones that are not indicated in the mail. for mostly i read in this forum, we have some evidence that we didnt send so i was just making sure we dont get any 2nd rfe in the future.. i know its crazy!lol!just dont want to wait any additional weeks.

We got an RFE too on the 15th Aug, but we have been expecting ours. If you really want to date your pics, I used some software which you can find here that can help you. You can ask it to find the date taken (if the pic was transfered thou it may give wrong date or you can input the right date).

Not a problem. Good Luck and dont stress too much about a RFE. It's a good sign that your file hasn't been lost among the 1000's of others rofl.gif
