I know my question falls under the "Embassy" forum, but I know it doesn't get nearly as much traffic as this forum for May 2013 Filers does. Any and all input would be much appreciated!secret7vf.gif

Hello VJers,

I was wondering, how long did it take for you to receive Packet 3 from the Embassy? Our file arrived at the embassy (according to CEAC) about a week ago. I just feel like each step of this process there is always a delay and a wait, but I am hoping we don't have to wait too long for Packet 3!

Also, who receives Packet 3, is it the petitioner (US Citizen) or the fiancee of US Citizen? If we are going through a lawyer, would she receive it?

My packet 3 took about 8-10 days. The packet usually goes to the beneficiary although ozgirls one webt to the petitioner which was a mistake cos it should have gone to the beneficiary.

They asked us to submit ds230 form part I, and also ds160 but we don't know when to fill the ds160, after we received packet 4 or before, we don't know :( do you have any clue about this?

Thanks before.

Yep Nurselling is right. The Sydney Embassy emailed the packet 3 to my US fiance, but it should have come to me. I thought it might have been a test to make sure we are bonafide LOL. My fiance forwarded it to me the same day. It will come in the form of an email. I got my packet 3 the day after our case arrived at the embassy, so it may vary from country to country depending on backlog etc.

About the DS-160, If your packet 3 says to submit DS-160, then you dont need DS156, DS-156k and the DS-230. I have just received confirmation from the Sydney embassy that all they need is DS-160, I-134 and the DSL-1076.

Google the instructions and FAQ for the DS-160 and it should make things a little clearer for you. I have the DS-156 etc forms done and will take them to the interveiw with me just in case thou.

I'm waiting on my co-sponsor I-134 and then I can submit pk 3. Woo hoo

Hi ozgirl, i think each US embassy has different docs they required. US embassy Malaysia required ds230 part I, print and mail back to them with the checklist. But they also still ask to fill the ds160 online. *sigh*

Do you have your interview date yet? And when they generate this? I thought we should put it in ds160?

Yes, you are right. Each embassy has their own way of doing it.

I dont have my interveiw date yet, still waiting on I-134 from USA. I'll complete the DS-160 just before I send of the pk3 documents.

Hi ozgirl, I have read your other threads. For my case was the beneficiary received packet 3 in the mail, and ask 3 things to mail back to them immediately including ds230 part I. Meanwhile other docs such as birth cert, police cert, I-134, etc will be brought on the interview date.

They also mentioned I need to submit ds160 but didn't explain when I should submit it. So I have mailed back the 3 things (ds230, passport copy page 1 & checklist) to them but not the ds160. I only filled it today after getting a reply from them (I asked them through email last week).

In Sydney us embassy how do they generate you the interview date?

I was wondering the same thing.. When to submit the DS-160. I'm going to wait until I have all documents needed then submit it. They might get it a few days before my docs get to the embassy.

As far as I know, Once pk 3 gets sent back to Sydney Embassy, they process what is needed and then they send pk 4 (I believe email again), which contains Interview date and how to pay visa fee. Syd only have interviews on Tuesday mornings.

They would send packet 4 by email? I envy you, here they still out fashioned, they will mail it the beneficiary again (which can take around 1 week with snail mail). I just get an email from them, they will state my interview date in the letter (packet 4), and they will mail it after they proceed the 3 things I mailed to them last week.

I still don't get how the ds160 related to and the purpose of it.

Oh wow, I wish things would go a little faster for at least if the embassy could email packets. It would cut down the time alot. I wish you well in your journey. I hope it's not too long for you.

Just got approved NOA2 on 10/25.

Unfortunately the office is from CSC, which I've been seeing has a minimum of 4 weeks to get to NVC. This sucks since the other centers are averaging 2 wks :(

Anyone from California Service Center that got approved NOA2 in October got their paperwork to NVC yet?

Just found out my NOA2 approved Oct 25, 2013 is still good. Was automatically extended by the embassy until one year of the last date of notification which is Dec 3, 2013. It's a race now.

Congrats on your approval. I do understand your feeling with NVC. It took us 42 days for case number. Will be praying for you. Keep your spirits high.
