Hey Vjers.. This started as a reply to the April K1 filers threat, but I figured it would be better here for anyone who is now going through a wait.

Although my Fiance and I are not separated right now, we have been through it. We do know what it's like to be separated for about a year... Brutal. Now that we have gotten through that, I have some advice for any of you guys who are struggling with the separation:

-Focus on the future, not on the present. Always speak positively to your partner, if you set a mood of positiveness it will be easier for them to feel happy. Just remind them that this time is a just the price tag for spending a whole lifetime together. Your love is valuable and more than worth the wait. You'd wait 100 years if you had too, so you can be grateful it won't be that long.

-Remember that this trial will create an even more amazing bond between you and your fiance. Even though it's been a long time now since my fiance and I were living on other sides of the world, we are still so grateful to be together in the same place. You will never take it for granted to just be able to see each other face to face and hug once you are finally reunited.

-Don't get worried or afraid or start losing trust. "Love always trusts" says Corinthians. When you are afraid and emotionally delirious because of the trail of having to wait so long for the visa, that is when you are most likely to make very dumb decisions and treat your fiance less than they deserve. Stay cool, keep a level head and remember that this is a temporary trial that will pass soon, and that your fiance needs you to stay cool and be positive and trusting and understanding of what they have to do.

Ideas for helping the time pass:

We found some excellent ways to pass time...

Do you know what an "MMORPG" is? It stands for "massively multiplayer online game"... Basically just a game where you play online together and do quests together and stuff. There are also games where you can play "co-operatively", they are called "coop" games. Basically you both get the game and you play together side by side in the game, going on adventures and quests together. The good thing about these games is that they are alot of fun and can take months to complete.. This means when you're finished with one game you can start another and it helps the time fly by. Here's a list of over 400 coop games for pc.

Another one is finding a bunch of movies or TV series that you like, and watching them at the same time while on the phone or skype. So as an idea you might brainstorm a giant list of movies that you guys want to see, and both go hire 3 or 4 at a time, and watch them together, crossing them off the list one by one. This works especially well with long TV series because they last longer than movies.

Write everyday. In many places it costs about $1 to send a letter anywhere in the world... If you write out a whole bunch of letters and buy 32 envelopes at the start of every month you can set them up and just make a habit of dropping one in the mail box every day. It just gives your fiance something to look forward too, he/she will get up and always look forward to the mail arriving. It can take alot of effort to write so much, but isn't your fiance so worth it!

Most of all just trust God that He will get you both through. Reading the Bible together every day was a big help for us. Without God the stress and worry would have been overwhelming for me... Being separated from my love was the hardest period of my life, I know it might be for many of you guys too. I just thank God He got me through.

Try to enjoy each day, try not to be worried all day long as it will make things worse for you and your fiance. Put a smile on your face :D .. You have a reason to: You have found the love of your life and soon you will be spending the rest of your lives together!
