But there's others of your own race that you like, correct?

The one's that act white, yeah. They're ok. Hate the FOBs and am impatient with the young wannabe thug types too. Yo, you ain't black, ok? Now act white, brown boy, before I bust a cap in yo a**!

This is why I get so fired up when I see something like this, we claim racism if a white person does it, but our own people get a pass. That's BS. Ignorance knows no color, he should have known better. You can be funny without being racist, but it takes skill. Same thing with Rhianna(sp) taking a picture with a black baby and saying my lil n****. How can we rise above it when we condone the very behavior that we condemn others for when they have fair skin.

One of the DJ's of the hip hop station I listen to on the drive in to work likes to call any black caller who says "white" stuff "light skinned #######".

But that's not racism when a black person does it, it's hypocrisy.

Then it's not the race of the person you hate, it's the quality of the person. Wannabe thugs come in all shapes, sizes and races.

When you judge a person as having lower "quality" because they like to use the word 'yo' a lot and wear their pants low and listen to a lot of hip hop, you just might be a racist.

Nope, it's flat out stupidity. I can't even explain how it became a term of endearment in our community. I find it just as offensive if a black person says it because after all that pain and suffering one word has caused, you would think we would never even think to say it. But oh no, somewhere someone thought it would be great to take that word, through an a on the back of it and viola, no worries.

Again, that's the quality of the person you're going after not the color.

The key word here is person, because many people of many races use street slang. If you were to say that you only have disdain for black people that use the word yo, but it was ok for white's or latinos. then race would be an issue.

When white people judge white people who "act hip hop", it's because they don't like the fact that he or she is acting black. We just call it "urban" these days so no one thinks we're racist.

don't hate the race hate the culture, approach..

I did, too much vulgarity to be effective. If I blog and want to have civil debates, I need people to keep a level head, once you digress into profanity and name calling, you lose sight of your goal.

True, hip hop has transcended many races. When I was stationed in Germany from 1997-1999, Hip hop and rap had taken over the country. Almost every German woman we met read Word Up magazine, had Biggie or Tupac, or both tattooed on them, spoke slang, and dressed like a round the way girl. One girl offened me because she said her dream was to grow up in the ghetto, she really thought those videos was an accurate portrayal of what it was like.

Thanks, I don't know why most folks can't figure this out. I have co workers that use it and think it's cool because their black or hispanic. I said no one gets a pass, if we jump on a person of non color for saying it, we should jump on ourselves even harder.
