Hello Everybody,

I need some help with regard to my situation after I got my K1 visa and POE.

  1. I have arrived in the USA on the 30th of April, 2013. The customs officer at LA airport, stamped the I-94 with the date which read June 27th. Now, I know that I need to get married to my petitioner within 90 days of my arrival in the USA. But the I-94 says 27th June which is around just 60 days from my arrival date into the USA. Did the customs officer make a mistake in calculating the 90 days period and instead of stamping 27th July, stamped 27th June? Can I appeal to authorities to make a correction to 90 days?
  2. Also, once I get married to my fiancee is it legally required that I immediately file for my Adjustment of Status or can we wait till we get our finances right. This is because we have incurred quite a bit in the last few months and would love to have some time before we shore up the money to file for Adjustment of Status.

I would really appreciate any information on the above 2 questions.

Cheers.

Congrats! First off, wait about 2 wks then apply for your ss card. Find out what the requirements are for a driver license in your state. You can wait to file AOS, but you can't work until you get your Employment card, and it can be files with AOS all for 1 fee. Get married of course before the 90 days. I don't know if you can get the date changed, but maybe you can inquire with immigration.

Dont waste your time inquiring.. if you know you canget married within that 60days but if you cant just go and inquired for it.. and as long as you married before that 27 june, you dont have problem .. you can file anytime but dont make it too long.. bcos you wont work or do anything until you get your AOS with EAD file to get your employment authorization before you can work.. so time is everything.. calculate it and see if you can make it

They did make mistake on I-94 stamp. Above posters gave great advices. Try to get to your local Social Security office in the next 8 days to apply for your SSN card. In California, DMV won't issue your State ID if your I-94 is less than 60 days.
