Consular Report of Birth Abroad?

Hi All,

My step-sister-son had his interview on April-29-2013. After the interview she received this letter from the CO. My question is what exactly this letter need from her husband?

- Evidence of 5 years?

- Social Security? (A check on this one)

- School transcripts?

or

- Tax records?

Your post is sort of confusing since you named it CRBA but the question doesn't really seem related to this. If the person you are referring to is the child of a US citizen and eligible for US citizenship based upon the US citizen parent, then they can't obtain a visa to the US.

If he is attempting to apply for US citizenship then he would need to provide proof of the parent's citizenship and that they meet the residency requirements.

Please clarify what the child is applying for and what he was asked to provide.

Dear Parents

*** Additional documentation is required in connection with the application for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad and a U.S. passport for your child. Please submit the required documentation to the American Citizen Servives (ACS) Unit on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, 8:30 am to 11:30 am:

* Evidence of 5 years physical presence in the United States for the USC parent before the child's birth:

- Social Security statements (please visit www.SSA.gov to request a report)

- School transcripts

- Tax records (including W2s

*Note: Departmend of State regulations state that an application will be considered active for 90 days after its initial receipt (7 FAM 1445.8). Any application which remainds pending for more than 90 days will be closed/denied. You may, however, submit a new application at a later date upon payment of the application fees.

This is saying that the parent who is the US citizen must give proof that they lived in the USA for 5 continuous years.

" The citizen parent was physically present in the U.S. for the time period required by the law applicable at the time of the child’s birth. For birth on or after November 14, 1986, a period of five years physical presence, two after the age of fourteen is required."

To prove that they have lived in the USA for 5 continuous years, they can use the documents they listed for you.

- Social Security statements

- School transcripts

- Tax records (including W2s)

So they need any of the above documents that prove a 5 year continuous stay in the USA of the US citizen parent.
