Dear NikiR,

I just had submitted my IV package containg all the documents i listed above, accepted and got interview date as well.

I had sent only 1 EACH NOTARISES COPY OF MARRIAGE CERTI, BIRTH CERTI. NO ANY ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS. You either have to submit Originals or Notarised, its not compulsary to send Originals.

Require docs varies case to case depending upon the Country. In india, we cant get PCC without having any proof like CHECKLIST LETTER FOR PCC in hand.

So did you just send NVC the Civil Documents without PCC? Is it ok if we send the civil docs without PCC?

Also, from where should I obtain my PCC? My Passport is from state XYZ and I am living (because of job) since last 4 years in state PQR!!

One more thing, Do I also need Passport Clearance Certificate with Police Clearance Certificate?

Thanks

YOU WELCOME.

Yes, i only sent civil docs notarise copy ( only 1) without PCC. Well, i had sent email to NVC asking that can i bring my PCC directly to the Interview and they replied, " Please be advised that Passport police clearance certificate is not requires for NVC to complete the case, you can bring it at the time of interview".

You should obtain your PCC from the state where your passport is (XYZ), you can also obtain your PCC from the state you are living rightnow but it may have 2 Police inquiry or police verification, 1 for the state XYZ and other for QPR. But i suggest you should apply in for XYZ state.

Well, if you got a checklist for PCC, you can see Notice like All indians above age of 16 should obtain their Passport police clearance certificate from YOUR LOCAL PASSPORT OFFICE.

Both Passport police certi and Indian police certi are different. In the checklist, NVC asks for Passport police certi. And you can obtain it only from your local Passport office ( Depends on where your passport was issued). As you have mentioned that your passport is if XYZ state and moved to PqR since last 4 years, i suggest you should go to any Visa passport agent and ask about your case.

Well, I have everything ready to send ... I am just waiting for Hubby to send me the signed DS-230 so I can assemble it in our IV package.

And I put on cover letter that Hubby can get police certificate once he has US Embassy appointment notice, as per Indian government.

SBA.RSA,

You dont really need to put a cover letter like that, NVC SAYS, You can bring your PCC directly at the interview then why you are sending such cover letter to NVC?

NVC ALSO SAYS, PCC is not required for NVC to.complete the case. Dear, you are really wasting time on IV package. Your IV fees has been already shown PAID since 19th April. its been 16 days, still you are on IV package. See IV package is not so stress giving like AOS pacakge. tell your hubby to be quick on that.

Though you do send such cover letter to NVC, they are gonna send you PCC checklist. So you dont need to send it.

I would suggest tell your Hubby to send IV package directly to NVC, because if he sends it to you then you wud send to NVC, it wud definetly gonna waste the precious time. Better your hubby get done on IV package, send it to NVC directly.

Ahhhhhhh, a lot of time slipped away because we stressed over IV package when it was really straightforward :-) Now I am waiting on one more thing from Hubby before I send it out.

Of course, I will say some prayers before mailing it :-)

Iam still waiting for NOA2,
I familiarized my self with I-864, and now found this great info on IV pacakge on this post, Thanks guys

Since Iam in USA and wife in India i will make her send the DS-230, and her passport copy and police clearance to me here in USA, Right?
other things like marriage certificate, certificate i have got those.

On police report , whats the soonest it needs to be. (like 2 months before i get a package IV)

Police report is just the one we get from local police station, right, and nothing too specific?

Let me know whats the soonest for police clearance or anything important iam missing out,

You can ask your wife to send DS-230 to NVC. Either you or your wife can send the IV package, but your wife must sign the IV application. In our case, I asked Hubby to send me all the civil documents so I can organize and send to NVC.

But in some places in India, they wil only give Police Certificate Clearance if the NVC gives in writing that they need it. When I sent IV package, I didn't send Police Clearance Certificate, and they have requested it in writing, so now my Hubby is in the process of getting it.

Your wife needs Police Clearance Certificate from all the places she has lived for more than 6 months ever since she was 16 years old.

In our case, my Hubby is getting PCC from his town, and from Chandigarh (we've heard that the Embassy is more likely to accept from Chandigarh). Also, ask your wife to update her Indian passport so that it includes your name. In some cases in the Embassy interview, they will look at Indian Passport to see spouse's name is recorded.
