Employment Record for form G-325a

This is a dumb question, but I'll ask it anyways. I was in the U.S. for nearly 6 months (legally), and while I was there, I didn't work. Now that I'm back, I'm working at the exact same job I was before I left. I also didn't quit my job while I was gone, there was no official resignation and my employers expected and wanted me back at work for them when I returned. So when I'm filling out the employment history on the G-325A form, do I list my six months in the U.S. as a period of unemployment, or not?

I would not list it as unemployment. Sounds like you were on a leave of absence, but still employed by the company. If this is true, then in my mind, it stands to reason that you were still employed.

Wouldn't it be simpler to just write in the correct dates i.e. 1/05 - 6/05 and then 1/06 - 6/06 next to that job information?

I think either way the idea that you took 6 mos off will be conveyed. I tend to think saying you were still technically employed by a Canadian employer the whole time might be a good idea, so as not to arouse suspicion that you were actually employed by Americans during your six months here.

But I'm sure either way it will be fine, and you can always attach a note explaining on another piece of paper.

Someone correct me if that's wrong...
