No, I'm saying that in this case where the data is split by county, that in my county there is one city that is responsible for most of the state benefits. In the other counties of my state, there are more cities that evenly equate to the total number.

Yeah. That's unavoidable. Even the 4% number in my county would probably go down to 2% (I'm guessing) if a few 'areas' were cut out. Even if they decided to only use my town and not the entire county, there are neighborhoods I'd want to cut out to get that number even lower. In fact, if they use my census tract I bet it's near 0%!

It seems like the counties the conservatives on this board live in are considerably higher. I'm not saying that you guys are the cause of it but it would explain your distaste for it. Easy to say its a system to help people when 1-5% of people are on it. Not as easy when its 15-30%

i think most people equate foodstamps with poor people capable of work who choose not to. i don't think very many think of the elderly who cannot afford to feed themselves. or the elderly who have ended up taking care of their grandchildren full time.

clarke county is full of extremely rich people, it's horse country. there is a small percentage of poor people, and they are mostly elderly. the cost of living in this county is way too high to maintain on welfare.
