Congratulations all new citizens.

It is now a month since my husband passed his test & was approved BUT nothing changes on USCIS website still states his interview date

No oath ceremony updates or info? How long should we wait before contacting them?

This is my timeline so you'll have an idea .....

05/16/2013 Mailed Form N400 Packet via FEDEX (overnight) $65.00

05/17/2013 USCIS Arizona Office Received packet = Date of Receipt packet at USCIS Office = IS ALSO YOUR PRIORITY DATE

05/20/2013 Email Notification -RECEIPT of packet

05/25/2013 Received Letter of Acceptance in the mail

05/28/2013 Email Notification USCIS Mailed Notice of Biometrics

05/31/2013 Received Letter in the mail / Notice of Biometrics scheduled for 6/10/2013

06/04/2013 Walked in for Biometrics at USCIS Oakland, CA ( earlier than scheduled date)

§ walked in at 10:15 am, left cell phone in the car

§ show appointment notice & green card to the guard

§ Guard will notify OIC to see you because you are coming earlier than appointed date.

§ OIC wil ask why the early appointment ? (told him conflict with my MAMMO Schedule)

§ OIC will ask to see your green card, how you obtained your permanent residency etc...

§ Fill out paperwork, all done by 10:50 am total time 35 minutes

Received letter in the mail = vINTERVIEW LETTER scheduled for 7/23/2013

07/23/2013 Interview Day -

o Arrived 15 mins earlier so hang around at a nearby STARBUCKS

o Prepare to show your Driver's License and INTERVIEW APPT. LETTER

o It's a Federal Building therefore just like the airport everything scanned, x-rayed , shoes taken off

TIPS: do not wear your expensive watch or belt to avoid loss it has to be off your body as well.

o got called in earlier than my appointment

o 30 mins interview, Asian IO was very thorough and STERN but in the end told me Congratulations as she opens the door for me.

Questions asked by IO (Immigration Officer) :

1. What group of people was taken to America as slaves?

2. Why did the colonists fight the British?

3. What is the name of the VP in US?

4. Who makes Federal Laws?

5. How many amendments does the constitution have?

6. What territory did US bought from France?

Passed Civic & English Test however "cannot make a decision yet"

(DECISION CANNOT BE MADE AT THIS TIME)

IO stated that Supervisor need to review my 5 inches thick file before approval, but she congratulated me ? ??!!

09/24/2013 went to FEDEX Oakland copied Naturalization Cert, then headed to USPS & applied for US passport at 2:48 PM / Expedite

$212.85 payable to Department of State & $49.95 to USPS for Express mail

Hi!

I just came back from my interview and oath ceremony. It wen great! Just took like 5 min. Everybody here in Portlandia are so nice! The IO welcomed me with a big smile. She asked the usual questions about travel, and marriage. Just questions from the form. I told her I traveled to Mexico and that I had a speed ticket. She already knew about my trip and did not care about the ticket. She asked me to sign my pictures and at the end asked me the civics/history questions.

Who vetoes bills? The president

What is the Law of the Land? The Constitution

What is the Capital of my State? Salem

Who do we show loyalty to when we say the Pledge of Allegiance? The flag of the United States

Who did the US fight in World War II? Japan, Germany, and Italy

What is an amendment? An addition to the Constitution

For English test, she asked me to read: Where is the White House?

And write: The White House is in Washington, D.C.

I had my oath Ceremony that afternoon at 2 pm. There were 50 new citizens from 23 different countries. We registered to vote after the ceremony.

It went so fast I just cannot believe it is over!

Thanks Kanga it has been quite tough waiting it out!! My husbands parents fly back in 2 weeks so I figure they will miss the ceremony as it says within 45 days. That is disappointing but we are just pleased the end of the journey is in sight!

Does anybody know if you can film the ceremony? Then we could send them the film?

Hi everyone , sorry we havent posted much , been busy busy ...well we got our Oath Date October 19th ....Finally and only 10 days before my birthday ...will be a great time to celebrate ......

I recieved my Interview letter yesterday on 9/25/13. It's scheduled on 28th October. Along with Interview letter they sent N-659 dodument checklist too. I recieved the yellow letter asking for state ID to bring on interview. Is it normal to get yellow letter and N-659 checklist or am I the only one who got it?? The check list is huge . Any advice and tips for interview will be so nice to get it.

At my ceremony in Portland, OR everybody was taking pictures and probably filming with their phones. It is very mellow, a big celebration. Congratulations!!!

I received a yellow letter as well. I spent one whole day getting all the documents. I came with a big pile of documents to the interview, and the officer just laughed at me. I was very concerned about demonstrating everything she asked me for during the interview, and she told me I do not have to give any document to demonstrate anything. Every office is different of course, but I am sure you will be fine. Just bring everything they are asking for. Good luck!!!

I took my oath yesterday at Houston,Officialy I am U.S Citizen, filled the Voter Registeration Form right there at the ceremony, may Allah Bless every body.
