How long does the ceremony usually take? Trying to decide if I'm taking my son out of school to watch.

Mine was a three hour drive and then a long wait so I didn't have family there (a friend came) - I would take him, it is a wonderful experience and he is old enough to understand it. Our guest speaker was an immigrant and had his 12 year old there and he totally enjoyed it :) Go for it - it will never happen again :)

Hello everyone,

I received a letter from USCIS stated that your application is pending review now. I have applied for naturalization roughly more than five months ago and completed fingerprinting too.

Please, if anyone had the received the same sort of letter, respond to this text would be highly appreciated.

Part of the processing involves getting in touch with our countries law enforcement for background checks. I don't want to sound horrible kabul but given the turmoil in recent years I can imagine those kind of records are going to be hard to get.

Have you called anyone yet?

Congrats to everyone that have recieved updates, attended ceremonies etc :)

Hey guys. I wasnt logging on for a while, bit busy with work, children etc. Quick update. I had my citizenship interview today 9/16/13. I passed and also was able to attend the oath ceremony the same day. Good luck everyone!

Still waiting nothing has changed on the website still says I am up for interview in Aug which I passed but no sign of an update that I was approved & no sign of an Oath Ceremony, how long should I wait?

The IO that interviewed me had told me it would be 30 days max before I received the letter. It all has to do with any post interview decision on their side, and also being able to schedule you for the Oath. This will vary by field office. Perhaps request assistance from a Tier 2 officer (via phone) if your status is the same after 30 days would be the way to go. Good luck :)

Thank you I will wait another 10 days then call. This is painful as there was an Oath Ceremony today & not another in our area for 3 months!!

My husbands parents are here but do not think they will be able to come back now so they will miss it.

Would have been so nice for them to be here for it.

Why is the online status not changed? They gave him the letter saying he had passed the test & was approved? That is not showing?

I am sorry to hear about your in-laws most likely missing the Ceremony. 3 months, eh? Do you live in a relatively small town? I ask because I live in a large metro area, so there's likely more people being processed, resulting in Ceremonies being held more frequently. The only thing I can make of it is that if it's taking 3 months in between Ceremonies in your area, you are probably next in line. Adding to this, is that you would most likely get the notice closer to the interview date rather than 2-3 months prior. But, you never know, USCIS works in mysterious ways.

Either way, stay positive. Your time will come!

PS - The online status doesn't (or didn't, in my experience) move until you are scheduled for the Oath.

I live 90 minutes from DC!! However I come under a rural office in Harrisonburg VA that does not have another ceremony until Nov.

That is good news about the Oath Ceremony status as I started to worry they had lost his file that is why the status was still showing his Interview date!!

Please update. I attended the Oath Ceremony today and I am now a US Citizen. I received my Citizenship certificate and applied for expedite passport as im travelling overseas shortly. Please mark in red the end of this process. Thank you guys for the support and positive feedback that you have givene, Without the support of people in here, this journey wouldn't have been relatively possible. Wishing everyone in here good luck in the upcoming events. Aloha.

08.15.2009 - I-129F sent off via usps registered mail!!
09.02.2009 - Check Cashed
09.08.2009 - NOA1 issued
12.15.2009 - NOA2 Approved !
12.23.2009 - USCIS sent the pack to NVC
01.07.2010 - NVC sent the pack to the US consulate
01.15.2010- Emailed the Consulate, they informed us that they received the file.
01.26.2010- Received the package 3.
02.16.2010- INTERVIEW passed, Visa received. Yuppiedancin5hr.gif !!
02.27.2010- US Port of Entry, New York - JFK.
03.02.2010- Got married in San Fran, California.
03.20.2010- Applied for SSN
04.03.2010- SSN received

04.03.2010- Filed Adjustment of Status (AOS) to Chicago ,IL
04.09.2010- check cashed and application received
04.26.2010- Application forwarded to CSC
05.17.2010- Biometrics taken in less than 10 minutes!!
08-19-2010 Green Card receiveddancin5hr.gif

06-05-2012 I-751 (removal of conditions) ROC filed
06-14-2012 NOA 1 received
07-19-2012 Bios taken in less than 10 minutes again!!

02/04/2013 Green card received


05/24/2013: N-400 filed via certified mail.
05/28/2013: N-400 was delivered
06/03/2013: N-400 received

NOA to be sent.
