We took a huge load of paperwork which we checked & rechecked before the interview.....we really needed none of it other than my husbands ID.

Even when my husband was asked what is all that stuff he replied well my tax papers etc.

The guy said oh well I better look then...he opened the envelope looked in did not even remove them from the envelope, gave them back & told my husband you can look after your own Junk!!

If he knew the stress we went through getting all this stuff together!!

However just passing was enough for us & we have saved all the papers of a reminder to all our USA friends who tells us it is easy to come to live in the USA.......NO it is not if you do it legally!

Hi guys!

Sorry for not updating before. I have been working crazy hours! Well, anyways. I received a letter last week with the appointment for my oath ceremony:

I'm scheduled for tomorrow, september the 27/2013 at 12:10 PM.

That means I have to leave my house at 9:00 AM, to deal with the crazy traffic in L.A.!!! haha!. Husband cannot come with me, so I hope someone in there can take a picture of this once in a lifetime experience!!!

Ok. I will let you know how did it go. If you have any advise, I am more than happy to take it!

To all of you still waiting, the best of lucks. Our journey is almost over!.

Kata.

Hi Everyone,

I received a text message and email on Sept 11th saying :

"On September 17, 2013, we scheduled you for your oath ceremony and sent a notice providing the date, time, and location....."

It's been 11 days and I still haven't received the oath ceremony letter in the mail. Is this normal? Is there a number or place I call and check my status?

Thanks!

Not normal. Usually the letter comes within a week. Call USCIS and ask to speak to a tier 2 officer and tell them what you put above. Ask them if they will tell you the date and time of your oath ceremony bcause you do not want to miss it. Also ask them to mail out another copy of the letter if it will get to you fast enough. You can also try infopass and ask them to print out a copy of the letter there.

Congrats and good luck!

Thank God! My journey is over. I had my citizenship ceremony last Friday. It was very emotional, and I will remember it for ever. I live in Orange County, CA, so I decided to start my drive to Downtown L.A., where the L.A. Convention Center becomes a court of Law for the citizenship ceremony, at 8:30 in the morning. Arrived at 9:15. They offer parking at $15 dollars/day at the same building the ceremony is held. I thought this was the best option, since I really didn't know how long the event was going to take. I walked like a block and a half. There were signs pointing the way very clearly. They made us stay in line for about 1:30 hours. It didn't matter the hour of your appointment. You still wait in line. Finally they made us walk towards the big room where the ceremony was held (a room half a football field, if not more) we passed a security scan and then we were pointed to one of the tables, where we submitted our paperwork and they gave it back with a number written on it. Finally we were sitted and we waited for about an hour more. A judge came in, made us repeat the Oath of Alliagence after him, then the song "Proud to be an American" was played on the big screen. We recited the Pledge to the Flag and sang the National Anthem. Everybody was very emotional. Finally, we were told to leave the room, towards the table with the number we got before we were sitted, and got our citizenship certificate.

Please update my status. To all of you sitll waiting, hang in there. It is totally worth it.

God Bless everyone of you.

Kata.

Hi Folks,

I received the Oath Ceremony letter this week for Oct 10th in Milwaukee. I have a couple of questions.

1. I have requested a name change and I thought name changes were only possible when the oath ceremony was in a court. My ceremony is at Milwaukee Area Technical College.

2. When I sign the back of the Oath Ceremony letter, do I sign with my current name or my new name.

Thank you!

I was offered that Oath Ceremony at MATC, but chose my earliest option instead - from what the officer said to me it is a special one (not sure for what though as she didn't say!) - but I am guessing so long as a federal judge is doing the oath swearing in part it doesn't matter where it is actually held - similar to those having their oath ceremonies in LA at the convention center.

Good luck and congrats smile.png

I did find this link on MATC website about the event there, not sure if it helps in anyway but you might be able to contact them about it? http://www.matc.edu/calendar/Event_Details.cfm?uid=8A4A0B00-B042-41A8-BD3DB4179B44F80D
