Agreed. I think that the age for statutory rape should be lowered too. The should be no more "of legal age" bulshit. This is a free country and all it does is take away our rights.

Spooky, a strong southeast wind just blew through, you're cooking again, eh?

Why have age restrictions on drivers licenses and gun permits? If you are able to fill out the application and sign your name, you're good to go. And this could be great for the military. We could have mandatory military service for children of welfare recipients. That way we would have plenty of soldiers to fight more wars. I think we are onto something big here.

Well, it's a bit strange to me. A girl has sex with her boyfriend, and worries she might be pregnant. You know, her parents would be so mad if they found her with condoms, birth control pills, or anything else that indicates she might do it.

So she can get the morning after pill now. Great.

BUT... if she sends a sexual picture TO her boyfriend, or he sends one to her, they become child pornographers and get registered in the sex registry.

Anyone see something odd here? I'm completely against child exploitation, but I don't think that those under 18 who have consensual sex should be forced to keep it secret or risk facing the law's wrath. If one of my stepkids were in a sexual relationship with a boyfriend/girlfriend, I would rather be aware, and tell them how to keep safe than to have them be afraid of anyone finding out.

To summarize... at 15, you have a legal right to buy the morning after pill, but the thing you did the night before is technically illegal.

Am I missing something here?

Logic.

I don't think it works that way unless one is over 18 but I don't really know. This is a good point, because in KY the age of consent is 16. So, at age 16, you can have sex with an adult, you just cant send them a picture of yourself naked? Laws are weird.

Laws are, indeed weird. Sexual laws especially. I have heard that in couples where they were both underage, the underage person who took a sexual picture of him/herSELF was the one charged with creating child pornography... of their own body. It's ridiculous.

My opinion is, consensual sex/pornography should be legal, and non-consensual sex/pornography should be illegal. Anything where consent is ambiguous should be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

Why a case-by-case basis? Well, if you look at every state, or every country for that matter, you get ages of consent ranging from 12 or 13 to 'must be married.' Obviously, there's no correct answer. There is a registered sex offender on my street. I don't know whether he slept with a 17 year old with her consent, or whether he did something horrible to a baby. I have no clue. That's also kind of a problem, in my eyes.

Yeah but you have to define the boundaries of consent for minors. Its prob best just to keep all pornographic material under 18 illegal.

But yes I agree, the guy with the 17 year old should be at an entirely different level than someone with an 8 year old. What about highschool seniors? What if you're dating a 17 year old and then you turn 18?

a 15 year old most certainly can have asprin in school.

Sorry I forgot I have to spell everything out for you.. I should have added "without parental consent"

understanding liability seems to be a problem for you.

a public school can't have kids bringing in drugs and taking them without some sort of control exercised by the school. why? parents can sue the school if their kids take a medication they didn't want them to. a parent of a kid who gets an aspirin from another student while on school property can technically sue the school. that's why you have to register medications with the school nurse and have the school nurse administer medication.

so, this isn't a matter of 15 year olds being unable to take aspirin to school. you seemed upset. hopefully now you understand a little better.

We had a well publicized case here in GA. Genarlow Wilson a 17 year old , was sentenced to 10 years for having consul sex with a 15 year old. The girl was only about 1 and a few months younger than wilson. He actually served 2 + years before he was released. Such BS.
