When you call and your case hasn't yet been received by the NVC they will invariably tell you to wait 15 business days. That's a standard answer. DON'T listen to them. Feel free to call every day. I've had many variations of the wait statement: wait a couple of weeks, wait 10-15 days, wait 15 business days, even wait 15-20 business days. Again, DO NOT listen to that. Beginning a week after your NOA2, call every day until they have your number.

When I got my number it was on the 8th calendar day, 6th business day. They told me the case had been received but not yet processed and to call back in a few days. I asked if they'd assigned the country specific case number, in my case MNL, and they said "sure, we have that" and they could give it to me. Once they've received your case they immediately assign a case number.

The process is yours, not theirs. The people on the phone know less about the process than folks here on VJ. Sad, but true. Drive the process as hard and as fast as you can, once you have the NOA2 in hand.

Good luck to everyone.

Hi,

my NOA2 was approved for April 15th and I keep calling NVC and they said that they have not received the case yet. They said I should wait 15 business days...so per this forum it sounds like it doesn't hurt to call them everyday and ask them. I called USCIS and they said they have no way of tracking the case and that I should wait 90 days. Should I continue calling NVC or just wait. It seems people cases are getting there...in a week..some a few weeks. Should I be worried or ?

Thanks!

I totally feel you. My wait is going on two weeks and I'm feeling a bit paranoid myself. I'm sure everything is fine with our cases but after all the things CSC has put me thru I can't help but have a huge mistrust with USCIS lol.

It's fine to keep calling NVC everyday.. i'm sure they prefer that we didn't because it's more work for them to answer all the phone calls.. but it's all good. Keep calling.. in fact I will be calling them during my lunch break today.

We are exactly in the same boat...My NOA2 is also dated 04/19/2013...I called today to NVC and DOS ( and almost every day for the last week) and nothing yet...

Hang in there bro.. it's only a matter of time. dancin5hr.gif

Got my NOA2 April 19th and I've already called the NVC 3 times. They still don't have my files and insists that I wait 15 business days but I just can't help and be excited dancin5hr.gif Has anyone who just recently got their NOA2 have better luck?

This must be a typical thing for CSC process. I went through them as well, and it happened the same way for me. CSC approved my NOA2 within 60 days of NOA1, but NVC never received it for the first few weeks. I called USCIS, and spoke with the 2nd level support, and they tracked my files to a mailroom in San Jose, CA. You can also send email to NVCResearch@state.gov to investigate, and they will call USCIS on your behalf. However, it will be at least two weeks before they will get back to you. You can call USCIS yourself just to know the status of your files, but I don't think it will do any good in terms of speeding up the process. NVC finally got my files six weeks after NOA2 from CSC. The USCIS contact number is: 1-800-375-5283

Good luck.

Wow that is awesome observation Anna. Thanks for sharing!

For those who get their case number, did you ask for any other information? Someone earlier mentioned asking for an "invoice number"? I've also read somewhere on the forum that you should ask for the date NVC sent your case to the corresponding embassy... for tracking purposes. Did you all just ask for your case number and that was it?

All you need from NVC is your case number, for a K1 visa. That invoice number, i'm pretty sure it's for spousal visa, as they go on a different process once their file reaches NVC stage.

For k-1, you call NVC, ask if they received your file from USCIS, be sure to have your USCIS receipt number, beneficiary's full name and Bday, and for the petitioner, full name and Bday. Ask them if they assigned a case number for your file and if your file was shipped to the specific embassy. If it hasn't left yet NVC, ask them when will it be shipped. :)

That's it :)

So i just got back from lunch, waited 20 minutes on hold only to be told that my file isn't there yet and I need to wait 15 business days ClockWatch2.gif

I have this suspicion though that the person who picked up my call didn't even check her computer with my receipt number. After I gave her my USCIS number she asked when I got my notice, when I said April 19 she immediately said "it wouldn't be in our system yet since it hasn't been 15 days". Hmmm.. i will try calling again tomorrow and will make sure not to tell them when my NOA2 date is.. see if that forces them to actually look up my file.

This is unbelievable..i mean, some of us, got our case number after only 7 days from our NOA2. I wonder what kind of system they have and why is taking so much for other people :s

Try calling everyday, till you get someone else on the phone. Sounds like the person gave you a generic answer when she/he heard your NOA2 date.

Hi,

I just called NVC and they said they received the case yesterday but it has not been assigned a case yet. They said that I should wait for a letter from them and keep on calling if I choose to. I will continue calling. Thanks for all the support and advise. I will let you know if I hear anything. Thanks again!
