Ok...here's my dumb question. I've read posts from others who have been through the whole K1 process. I've seen some that have been to the interview with the petioner present and some without, (I am the petitioner.) If I have a chance to go, I will. I think the interview will go smoother if I'm present.

My question: Is there a written rule anywhere that states if the petitioner can or cannot attend the interview? I hired an attorney to file this for me...I know, I know..that was before I found VJ. He mentioned to me that there have been changes to the procedure in Manila. Can anyone verify or discount this?

Thank you all in advance!!

As this topic concerns interviews in Manila with the process of dealing with the USEM in Manila, i'm moving your post to the Philippine forums.

Nope procedures haven't changed, you just show up at your fiancée's side and in you go. No issues.

There are a fair number on here that have been there for the interview more recently that myself, and have yet to hear of any issues.

Its not a big deal if you are not there, but if you can go for sure do it, I give it a thumbs up as a great experience.

Hi Hank

I have also read many accounts of being there for her interview.. But I have also hear some say that they are not permited to be present during her interview @ the window..I guess my question also would be is there a Hard rule or is it @ consular's Discrestion?

I agree it is not required you should be there, But if able it does give your fiance' a sense of releif that it means that much for you to be there with her...Just My opinion not a judgement... But I did email the embassy and ask the same question..Is there a rule prohibiting me from attending my fiance's K-1 visa interview? I will post the answer if I get one

God Bless,

JM & MM

I have never heard of anyone (USC) not being allowed in the embassy or at the window for the interview. I was at the window with the Filipino pre-screener - who chatted with me more than he asked my wife questions. And the CO also asked me a variety of questions, plus just chatted with us both.

You will get a positive email from the embassy as they have zero issue with the USC being present during the interview.

There are supposedly some embassies around the world that don't allow the petitioner entrance for the interview. But never heard of anyone being turned away in Manila. I wasn't able to go to ours, and I honestly don't think it's needed, but if you are able, I'm sure if nothing else your fiancé will be happy for your support.
