Ok...back story...

My husband was/is a sponser for his brother in law (who married his sister and is a British citizen). My husband and I moved in together in May 2012 (we were engaged then). He never changed his address with USCIS and now we are filing my I485. Do you think we should send a change of address form now with the effective date May 2012? Or is this going to look sketchy since its outside the 10 day window. Should we just play dumb and see what happens! I'm so mad that he didn't handle this earlier!

While you are certainly supposed to notify USCIS within 10 days of changing address, or risk potential deportation, in practice USCIS doesn't have the resources to follow up with people who forget to do so, and will only go after people who willfully hide from them. The main thing is that you were able to continue receiving mail from USCIS and followed up with all of their requests for information.

As long you update everything and let them no it wasn't intentional, everything should be fine.
