I-797C Expiration

My fiancee received a notification from the embassy in Manila that it would be approximately 120 days until her interview would be scheduled.

The problem is that my I-797C will expire about 30 days before this.

My question is: How soon should I contact the embassy about an extension? What is the best way to do this? Mail? Fax? Thank to the forum for your response!

Slow embassies tend to extend all petitions another 4 months beyond expiration, of the NOA2.

You may want to email, call or mail them a reminder to extend the case a week or so before the expiration.

As far as I know, embassies tend to automatically extend all petitions, as long as the packet 3 is sent back to the embassy before the expiration date. If not, it's usually assumed that the application is abandoned.
