Re: the new I-864 form, I've just noticed it's missing at least one country (Vietnam) from the new shiny, drop-down boxes to select country. No prizes for guessing which country I need to select.....

I'm writing a letter to the address listed on the instruction form (USCIS, office of policy & strategy in Washington DC) pointing this out - I'll be hand writing Vietnam onto the new form and hoping it doesn't play too much havoc with their 2D barcode and processing oops8rh.gif

We send our packet IV (DS 230 and other civil documents) to NVC yesterday. I just logged into to online payment portal and saw that Both our payments were in PAID status. When i checked Packet IV processing Instruction, found something abt DS 260. I am a bit confused here, do we need to file DS 260 also? Can someone please help me out with that.. I did go through the instruction but really confused.

And also i see lot of ppl here are talking abt sending 4 passport sized photos in Packet IV, we send 2 of beneficiary... is it 4 or 2? i saw the documents list in the link " how Do I bring my spouse".. and it was mentioned 2 in there...

Nope ignore the ds-260. That is the online form version of the ds-230 but India does not utilize online forms.

Like Niki said, ignore the DS-260 as India isn't eligible for online forms.

For the IV package, it's TWO passport photos. I haven't seen anyone here talk about sending in four blink.png

I will definitely ask the Consul officer when our interview comes up soon, to be sure. Thanks a lot. yes.gif

DoS Officers, Vice Consuls at a US Embassy (the fella doing that interview) won't know basic USCIS guidelines for citizenship rules.

Why to rely on a DoS Vice Consul for this, when it was suggested to you to contact USCIS ?

Whilst humans can be important, getting the right human is important for any success..

Although I alluded to not having to pay the greencard fee on the child,

what's more important is that the child already meets the rules for USCitizenship, once the child exits a Port of Entry in the USA.

But go ahead, talk with a Vice-Consul during your interview, ask your questions, let us know what the response was.

I talked to someone at the NVC today who said that they have accepted our IV package and show that they have received some other mail for the case but they don't know what it is yet. That has to be the AOS package, which I know they received on Monday. Any thoughts on when that might get processed?

Yes, my child will be immigrating with me. Our child was born before my husband was naturalized USC, so I am assuming that our child will be a USC upon POE, correct? So do we have to pay for the $165 twice after we receive our visas? smile.png

now that's an interesting scenario.

the passport will be used as a 1 year I-551 document AFTER coming out of POE (there be stamps there, la)

so

anytime need to show green card, hey ! there's the STAMP in the passport !

So, in this particular case, NO, no pay the fee , not pay the fee, on the child.

This is a question that has come up in the other family visa section (IR-2/CR-2s). A couple of us agreed that logically, it seemed like we don't need to pay a fee for something that is invalid before it would ever arrive in the mail, since the child becomes a USC immediately.

But we'll see what ends up happening in the end; somehow I find it hard to believe a fee could ever be avoided with these folks smile.png I haven't seen anyone else who had a child enter since the fee was instituted in February post about this topic. I have been trying to keep an IR-2/CR-2 wiki up to date, so if I hear the result from Memphis or anyone else I will post it there.
