Yeah, those operators don't know what they're talking about half the time rolleyes.gif

It actually doesn't matter if you send the IV package first or complete the DS-260 first no0pb.gif

Looking back, I would have sent the IV package first, instead of waiting after I finished the DS-260 to send it. It took me like 1-2 hours to complete the online form. If I had sent the package first, I could have been 1-2 hours ahead of everyone else who had emailed them. Just my thoughts wink.png

It typically takes the same amount of time for checklists as it does the packages the first time around.

Saylin, thank you for your reply. Do you know if the system records whether they receive your RFE responses like what they did with the I-864 and IV package or can we only know when they actually review our RFE responses ? I called yesterday but it looks like there's nothing on their system indicating whether they have received our RFE responses yet... Kinda worry a bit now sad.png.

But you shouldn't send the IV until after you can DO the DS-260 is what I meant, not after you actually complete the DS-260. I should have specified. Like I paid the IV bill on the 28th, but I didn't want to email the IV package until it showed paid because I couldn't even complete the IV application! Whereas if I was mailing a DS-230, I would have sent the whole package the day I paid the IV bill.

Ohh, I got you!

I believe once again it's the same as the packages: an operator won't know it's received until the review has started.

They need to fix their system very badly headbonk.gif

I see thanks for the reply. I guess I will try calling them again next week to see if there is any update. On the good side, my wife's DS-230 has been reviewed and we only need the Singapore PC to complete the DS-230. Thanks to Ariyan's tip, I got it done 2 weeks ago. I will pick up my wife's PCC next week and alas, it will be forwarded straight to the NVC.

Hope everything will go well....

guys, I need to request an earlier interview date than the one I got on on April 29th. My interview date is June 17th. Everywhere it says wait for your case to get to the embassy and then request it, however, it looks like it will be awhile till NVC sends it out. When I call they say your interview is way far it won't be sent out now!! Well, that is the point of requesting a sooner one, HELLO! I don't know what to do exactly!! Should I ask for an expedite at NVC? Should I email the embassy and ask for an earlier interview without waiting for case t get there? Should I tell my congressman to contact DOS? Please guys, any help is appreciated! I have serious things going on and the interview date MUST move back ASAP! My medical is done and it's all ready!

I don't think it's possible since the NVC waits for the Embassy to assign the interview date and normally the interview schedule is quite tight for the Embassy. I am sure it's possible to postpone the interview but it's not possible to move it to an earlier date.

But if you think your circumstance is exceptional enough or an emergency (for instance your life is being threatened or medical condition worsened (just to give some examples)), call the Embassy and let them help you out. Only them can contact the NVC at this point and request to have your package shipped earlier and move up your interview date.

i suggest you start chasing after this stuff 8 days after 'interview set date' of the 29th o April.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Unless they've changed things, they typically send the case out the day after the interview date has been assigned. If your case is still there though, you might want to send the request to NVC. They'll probably then forward the request to the embassy.

It's very possible to get an earlier date. There's about 29 folk who took my advice, these last 14 months, and got earlier dates using the exact method that I've described. It works ! It's not gauranteed, but if the IV unit can accomodate, they do accomodate.

Good to know , thanks Darnell, I have always thought that since the case is already completed at NVC, NVC doesn't have any power over it so I suggested to contact the US Embassy. Sorry if I misled anyone.

Once again, sorry for my misinformed suggestion.

Yeah it looks like it changed a bit... I remember on your 1st and 2nd post, there was a question about that. However, I call NVC everyday and they keep telling me it won't be sent out any time soon!!!! I think you are right, I should contact NVC, since they still "have" it! DO they send out an electronic copy too to the embassy or no?

May I ask for your method so I can be the 30th to follow it? content.gif

Eh - it's sorta powerful, when the IV unit has received the casefile.

Once it's there, it's quite possible to get an earlier date, many IV units do not fill up their calenders or have had cancellations or they underbooked the prior month for whatever reason.

Usually, the IV unit has the casefile 8 days after NVC sets the appointment date. There are variances on this, too - if going into a war zone or if there is political unrest or if there is a contract for only bi-weekly delivery service to the IV unit. China, of course, is the exception - expect a 1 to 5 month wait on a paper casefile (that's why I've been extolling the virtures of EP for Guangzhou these last 3 years now)

In essence, wait 8 days, email the IV unit, and inquire about it. If they can accomodate ya, they will ! Expect only 3 to 4 weeks, tops, on the 'shave-off' but for those who needed it, 3 to 4 weeks earlier was a godsend. Apologies if I seemed snarky about it, really.

question, it shows on the tracking that they received the aos packet that i sent. do i have to call and follow up? and do i have to ask them too about the ds3032 that i emailed?

Do you have to? No. You never have to call NVC at all during this process.
