I mailed in my IV and AOS packets together on Monday 4/22. I checked the tracking on it and it says they were delivered on Wednesday 4/24. I called NVC today and the guy (who sounded really annoyed) said it might be in the building, but it's not in the system yet and that I should wait 20 business days before calling again.

How long has it been taking for them to 1) enter the packets into the system 2) look through both packets and determine if the case is complete?

From what I have noticed it's been 10-12 days. they won't go into the system until after they have reviewed them. As far as the case complete if everything is there that they need then about 15-20 days you may have a case complete.

From what I've heard for Canada, some of the drs won't schedule the appt w/o the interview letter.

In other words, you have to bring the interview letter to the appt.

I totally think you should do this! That would be pretty awesome smile.png

We could have Tim Horton's afterwards :D That's what we did last year laughing.gif

For EP filers,

Approx how long after paying the IV bill can you do the DS260?

I don't see a place for this in the timelines to look up the avgs myself...

Remember, there's a difference between EP and online forms.

EP = Electronic Processing, able to send the AOS and IV packages by email instead of snail mail

Online forms = DS-3032 and DS-230 forms to be filled out and submitted online

And unless they've changed things, the bill has to show as PAID before the DS-260 becomes available.

Am I wrong here, maybe its country specific, but my wife had scheduled her medical already once we recieved the AOS invoice, it had the cover letter and reciept plus the ds-3032 form which we already emailed prior. Once we recieved that she was able to schedule her medical.

The Philippines is one of the few countries where you can do advance medicals, where all you need is a letter from NVC with the beneficiary's name and case number on it. For the rest of us though, we need to wait until an interview date is scheduled and we have the interview letter before we can get a medical done.

We are on to the NVC! Post decision activity as of 05/01/13! YAY!

Woohoo, congrats! kicking.gif

Saylin is right. You cannot do the Ds-260 until the iv bill shows up as paid.

Can anyone tell me if my children, who are 8 and 10 years old, have to do the medical and provide a record of their vaccinations, or is it country specific?

Thanks very much!

Ok so I finally understood the mistery on my wife's visa in Algiers.

Basically she was given the choice to either have her visa sent or come pick it up. they told her the visa will take 1 month to be ready so she chose to go pick it up thinking it was faster.

However the visa was ready in just a few days and now she still has to wait till 05/27 to go pick it up!...

I am trying to get the embassy to send it.

So if you get the proposal to send or pick up, please select send as they use UPS and it should be fast... hope this helps.

Saylin, thank you so much for your NVC threads and all the information in the first two posts! They really helped me get my head around the NVC process.

We are still waiting for our NVC case number, but I am trying to think ahead and I have a question on the medical: do you need to do it in the same country where your consulate is? Our case is in F2A category, so when we filed our I-130, we knew it was going to take 2-3 years before I'd be at the interview stage. I am Finnish, but work in Germany, and at the time of filing, I wasn't sure where I'd be in a couple of years. Hence we indicated in our I-130 that I would be applying for my visa at the Helsinki consulate. Well, I am still in Germany, and don't mind at all going back home for the interview, but I recently discovered that I live about three blocks away from one of the German panel physicians' office. Can I do the medical in Germany and have the interview at the consulate in Finland? It would just be so much more convenient for me to get the medical done here, instead of having to take time off from work and do an extra trip to Helsinki.

My F2A/IR-1 journey:

USCIS:
4 August 2011: I-130 sent (while husband permanent resident)
8 August 2011: Priority date
16 April 2013: NOA2

NVC:

7 May 2013: Case number received, DS-3032 sent

15 May 2013: AOS bill received and paid

16 May 2013: AOS package sent

17 May 2013: DS-3032 accepted

20 May 2013: IV bill received and paid

21 May 2013: IV package sent

11 June 2013: response to IV checklist sent

13 June 2013: Case upgraded to CR1

2 July 2013: Case completed

28 August 2013: Interview - approved!

21 September 2013: POE

18 November 2013: Green card received

My husband's citizenship journey:

8 February 2013: N-400 sent
4 March 2013: Biometrics
24 April 2013: Interview
12 June 2013: Oath ceremony

Glad all the information was of help!

As for your question, I'm not entirely sure. I'm leaning more towards it has to be in the same country as the interview, but I'm not 100% sure on this. You may want to contact Helsinki and see if you're able to get the medical done in Germany.

OMG. My first timetick for my casefile.

Congrats on the progress! Never thought I'd be adding you to the spreadsheet ;)
