Can anyone point me to a previous post or quickly explain what the term "false checklist" means? I keep seeing you all talk about it but don't have a clue what you mean.

Thanks

it's in the faq section, post #2.

I sent the AOS package but got a checklist for the IV package (which I either have sent or not sent yet) [or vice versa]. What's going on?

If you sent the packages separately, then get a checklist for the other one, just ignore it; it's a false checklist. The same applies if you sent just one of the packages and get a checklist for the other. Please understand that as soon as NVC reviews a package, they very frequently generate a checklist for the other package, without even checking if they have it in the building first. If you do get a checklist for one of the packages, you do NOT have to use that bar-coded cover sheet; you can still use the one from the payment portal.

The only time a checklist is real (and not false) is if it asks for something very specific missing in a package (like a police certificate, for example). If it asks for something general, like the entire package, then you can assume it's false. Call up an operator at NVC to confirm.

Thanks to VJ member sulhaq for this suggestion!

I'm sorry, folks, I'm so discouraged. Every step of the way I've had to fight them to get things right. Even now they're dragging their heels and making weird mistakes. I'm so tired and lonely.

hey don't worry i got checklisted three times for misinformation from the nvc but now im waiting for them to complete my case and hopefully give me a interview by the end of next week so dont worry but do stay on top of them just in case......best of luck good.gifgood.gif

I would wait till your bank shows it's cleared. That's when it will show paid in the internal system over there.

I'm a dual US/Hungarian citizen (both by birth; Hungarian citizenship verification TBA), and my husband is a dual British/Irish citizen (by treaty) from Northern Ireland. We are atheists.

Yeah, I waited a week and then resent it... and it got approved an hour later. The reply for my first DS3032 arrived several days later.

And yes, I did translate them. Even though it's supposedly not required, but I didnt want to risk getting a checklist for that.

Meh, I didnt wait, I just sent it! It cleared on our bank a day later, and it still hasn't arrived at NVC so no problem.

I'm an ESOL teacher so thought I would translate them myself, do the statement and include a copy of my English teaching degree... Not sure though

I translated them myself, and included a statement at the bottom that said I was fluent in both languages, and signed it. I like that about dealing with USCIS and NVC, they don't require accredited translators.. When dealing with paperwork in Spain (to get my husbands student visa), they require you to get everything translated by "sworn" translators.. and its costs a lot of $$.

I guess you could include the copy of your english degree but you definitely don't have to.

That's good for you, but maybe not for other people who try the same thing. Because if you next-day express mail your packet, and the payment fails to clear your bank before the NVC receive it, it could cause delays. Don't advise people to send the packet before the payment clears.

I mailed in my IV and AOS packets together on Monday 4/22. I checked the tracking on it and it says they were delivered on Wednesday 4/24. I called NVC today and the guy (who sounded really annoyed) said it might be in the building, but it's not in the system yet and that I should wait 20 business days before calling again.

How long has it been taking for them to 1) enter the packets into the system 2) look through both packets and determine if the case is complete?
