My Chinese wifes, ex coworkers, daughter . Graduated from Findlay university in Ohio with a MBA. in January. She is a Chinese citizen , 27, trying to find employment where she can get the H4 or whatever status. I know the slots are gone for 2014. I saw it in USCIS. I did some resumes for her on places that hire foreigners. Like MS, oracle. And a couple of banks. She has a little banking experience. But she has heard nothing. And a lot of places require SS numbers on the app. Which I don't think she has. Any and all suggestions would be helpful. I saw a couple places on the internet that you pay for them to find you foreigners a job . But the slots are gone. I think she has to leave in December unless she finds employment that will give her the H4. I'm not 100% familiar with the deal. But that's what she said. She also said she would pay her own H4 fee. And she has some money. And her Bf family does too. He said no problem.

Thanks.

Can you briefly tell me what OPT is. I will ask her. But she did not include it on her resume. I assumed she was working under the table. For a Chinese place.

If she did that then she cannot get another visa to the US.

If she not apply for OPT, then she never pay attention to the DSO.

Actions (or lack thereof) have consequences.

I assumed. So Lets wait and see. Her parents are visiting from China. I'm thinking she just didn't think it belonged on a resume. Or was needed to apply online.

OPT is a big deal, for a foreign student with a recently-awarded MBA.

Ok. I just sent her a QQ email. I suspect she did it then. Our conversation involved her discussing time limits, and finding a job in her field. I'M unfamiliar with the process.

OPT has potential to 'keep her' in USA up to 1 year past graduation date. She really should know of it, seriously.

MOST DSOs assist with finding company for OPT.

Most folk in MBA program secure OPT company during final semester of MBA program.

something really smells.

She said she could stay one year. Unless she found employment in her field with the H1B. I think I,m smelling this up. She is looking for an H1B employer. She said she had to take work in her field. That would get her a year. Her resume was a little different. Nevertheless I will find out soon.

But back to the original post. How to find her a job.

OPT - up to 1 year

H1-B, after OPT, usually fipped on a conversion - 1 to 4 years.

She not talk of OPT.

Ask her about OPT.

----

how to find a job -

get back to the UNI, talk with the DSO - tell DSO - 'I am sorry, I am lazy, I not seek employer for OPT before I graduate - please help me?!?!?'

Seriously - that's the best thing for her to do, contact the DSO, plead laziness, and beg for mercy in finding an OPT slot with a company.

OPT slots are usually filled by now, her laziness is biting her in the @ss.

Perhaps her boyfriend decided she not need to attend the OPT seminars at her UNI ?

If her B/F is a USC problem solved.

Makes you wonder at that age and with a MBA she can not look after herself.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
