Burma / Myanmar - K-1 Visa

Hi all,

I am trying to bring my Burmese fiance to USA using K-1 Visa, but on the I-129F and G-325A forms I am not sure what to use for the country name.

The original name is Burma but has been changed to Myanmar by the govt there. Does the US Govt recognize the new name, or should I just use the old Burma name?

She resides in capitol Rangoon which also changed name to Yangon.

Any help is appreciated.

The US Government does not recognize the name change. Use Rangoon, Burma.

"[Although the SPDC changed the name of the country to "Myanmar," the democratically elected but not convened, Parliament of 1990 does not recognize the name change, and the democratic opposition maintains use of the name "Burma." Due to consistent, unyielding support for the democratically elected leaders, the U.S. Government likewise uses "Burma."] "
