Joey, I'm really sorry to hear about this, but I think Mew and Marcela are right. She can get her passport even if in debt, the two are unrelated. I don't know if she knew this or were misinformed but even if she regrets what she did (about using your money for something other than paying her debts) I think you really need to sit down and think about this. If she's got a spending problem, it will keep happening there. It's gonna be up to you to accept it, to help her, to forgive her, but I'd first check to see what really went on about this debts and passport situation, to make sure there's no "dirt" under the rug. I hope you sort all this out. You trully seem to love her.

To all of you,

Everything is going to be OK. We talked about it and we both understand. I said all the things that I wanted to say. I said all the things I needed to say. She explained and she apologized 100 times. We took care of things. Life goes on. Visa process continues.

In a relationship, you have screw-ups. At least if you are in the relationship long enough! I'm no Angel, but my woman has made me a better man since we met in 2005. And after the mistake, after the argument, after the stress, after the blood pressure is normal again, there's a point where the 2 of you look at each other and you know that you have an understanding, a connection stronger than many people can know, and that no more needs to be said. At that point, you decide to go forward together or to abandon ship because things were not perfect. Life is not perfect!

We both asked the question "So what will this look like 3 years from now?". The answer is that it would be a distant memory that we can tell our kids about one day. Yep, "The Passport Story". We still have our eyes on the prize. We are waiting on her Interview date from the Consulate, probably late January, early February.

We'll be just fine. Thanks for all the love!

im glad you both work things out. in my opinion there isnt such a perfect relationship. but we do all have choices on how to handle a relationship. do things that what we think is right (it doesnt have to be right for others too. the important is, how we feel about it). we do all have a "passport story". we called ours "puck your bugs story" (pack your bags). it isnt funny at all when it happend but thinking of it right now, its one of the most hilarious event of our relationship. lol... so i hope for the best in you and may your relationship go stronger and better...

Joey I wish you the best of luck. However, I was married to a woman that sounds exactly like your fiance. She did this over and over for 9 years until I had nothing left to mortgage/borrow/give then I was nothign to her. Take it from me, get yur fiancee some financial management classes and if she does not change her spending habits and continues to look at you for her debt relief, you are going down a path of debts, lies, apologies and spending that will repeat its self until you can no longer pay the bills.

I hope I am wrong, but after going through it for 9 years, I see the signs and she is likely taking advantage of your kindness. I hope not and like to look on the positive side. I hope she has learned her lesson and will change her way. Best of Luck, Ken & Maria

Don't co-sign for a credit card and don't give her access to the bank account(s) until you know how this is going to work when she gets here... You're eyes are wide open now.

Best wishes for a happy future,

Jen

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

And if this is a true problem, and I've seen many people who actually had to be financially interdited (not allowed to have anything, no accounts, cards, checks, nothing) in order to stop spending, you can help her, get her help, therapy.

I'm sorry that this has happened to you. I know nothing someone on VJ says is going to make a difference. But there's no talk that could clear this up. She lied to you and used you to get more money. If she really wanted to be with you, she wouldn't have spent the money you gave her on her family and she would have checked the requirements for a passport, which everyone knows do not include any sort of credit check.

I think you're being played big time. Do not trust this woman!!
