L1 holder and fiance

Hello,

As far as I know US does not recognise common-law marriage for visa application.

But I got confused regarding some US states (Texas, for instance) that has the legal figure of common-law marriage.

So, my question is... if I travel with my fiance (me on a L1 visa and she with a B1/B2 visa) and after a few months in the states we established a common-law marriage recognized under the Texas state law, will she then be entitled to qualify for a L2 visa?

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

Ernesto.

common law marriage in USA is more complicated than you think, usually involving several "presenti" acts or formalities. laws about this form of union are in flux right now at the state level. it is not a safe way for you to immigrate your girlfriend. .
