Question about EAC and SSN

Hey guys,

I hope I can get some information. I am about to graduate in May, and I received my EAC (Employment Authorization Card) in March for OPT. I was wondering if it is possible to apply for a SSN? I have all the necessary paperwork. My question is can I apply for an SSN with the start date on my EAC being in early June? I have been receiving calls from a lot of companies with job opportunities, and it would be sad to be overlooked because of a SSN. I will also need to find an apartment and will probably require a SSN to get. Is it possible to get my SSN now or would I have to wait until the date on the card?
