Good Morning Everyone,

It's a crispy cold morning here in Savannah. Lots of cleaning and laundry and homework still for me to do today. Yesterday Abdel surprised me and cut the front yard, raked it, and weeded all of the gardens. When I asked him what bug bit him he said he guessed he found a hobby. It sure looks nice out there so I hope that bug bites him a lot. I just wish I had time to go out and help him since gardening is one of my favorite hobbies too. Now I'm just scrambling to try to make the inside of the house look as good, and still get my homework done.

Not much else to say this morning, really just a lot to DO. Noura, how was your day yesterday? Did you get that scooter ride in? Was it Jenn who had the horrible headache last night (I was treading lightly there trying not to get caught in the mud so I'm not too sure). I hope you're feeling much better today. Jess, how was Sunday in Lebanon?

I'm sure there are other early morning posters I'm missing saying good morning too so Good Morning to all of you! Please bring lots of sunshine with you this morning, we have a lot of mud to dry up and sweep away.

Liz

Good Morning Everyone,

Ok I'm watching Paula Dean's Thanskgiving special and she just had her boys get some oysters for an oyster dressing. Do you have an accent like Paula? I love southern accents!!! Not too fond of oyster stuffin' though. She's havin her huuuuuuuuuuuuuuusband help her make the turduckin'. lol Her husband looks so snuggly and cuddly. lol

I have to get a list together to get my shopping done for what I need to bring to my brothers for Thanksgiving dinner. I'm making some squash thing...dunno what kind yet, and my favorite from Paula her gingerbread trifle. I normally don't make her stuff since it's all heartattack on a plate stuff but I do it for the holidays. I just don't know how I'm going to travel with a trifle....that is gonna be tricky!!!

Jenn I hope you called your doc just to be on the safe side!!!!

Noura I wish I had a scooter!!!!! My kids each have one and I almost killed my ex for it but he swears they don't go more than 15 miles per hour. One of his drag racing friends got them for them.

I"m going to buy a suitcase today for my trip. Just about one month away and I'm getting butterflies in my stomach!!!!!!!!!:dance::dance:

omigosh just saw a commercial for Chris Daughtry's debut cd!!!! Lemme tell ya that dude is H-O-T!!!!!

Nope, not really an accent. I'm a transplanted Yankee (grew up in Ohio) but I have been down here 16 years now, so I guess sometimes someone from somewhere else might think I do. Most people I talk to on the phone aren't sure where I'm from so I guess my accent is neutral.

It's funny you mention oyster dressing. I was listening to a monologue on NPR Friday about a lady who was from New England who was making her first holiday dinner in the south with her new family and substituted the Oyster dressing for the mashed potatoes. Needless to say it didn't go over well. Oyster dressing is a New England thing, not a southern thing. I've never seen it served down here, and I've been to a whole lot of big family dinners. I've never watched Paula Dean so I'm not sure where she claims to be representing.

I remember when I was planning for my first trip to see Abdel. What an exciting time for you!

She's in Savannah which is why I mentioned it since you said you're over there. She said it's a Savannah tradition. Guess she's full of it. lol. She's a little over the top but I just can't stop watching her.

Yes it is exciting I just wish these holidays weren't in the middle of it since I'd like to drop another 10 before I leave and I don't see that happening with all the leftover Haloween candy and now all the things I'm going to be cooking!!!

So much to do before I go. I have no idea what I'm going to do with my cat and I still haven't coordinated how the kids will get picked up and how I will get to the airport in time. It's normally three hours before an international flight right? I can't wait till I"m actually in my seat and can pop an adavan and go to sleep! lol

hiya hiya :P

I slept 9 hours last night which rarely happens. Usually I get 5 or maybe every once in a while I'll get 6, but I know I really needed the extra sleep last night.

I woke up to a wonderful world in white as it's really heavily foggy outside. It's pretty though.

:)

Anyone else here play Monopoly? I always hated the game as people get so intense about it. I bought my son a Star Wars version for his birthday and we were playing last night and I remembered why I haven't played in years. :D

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5

I was feeling a bit under-the-weather yesterday so I slept away the afternoon hours. I ended up going to the grocery store last night at about 8:3opm and must have still been feeling bad because I ended buying a bunch of stuff that made it look like I was cooking Thanksgiving dinner . . . without a TURKEY!!! The cashier that checked me out even commented that I didn't have a turkey, hehe. Then the woman in front of me had asked about her free turkey so the clerk sent someone back to get it . . . they had just brought it back when the woman said never mind!! So the clerk said "you want this, your purchase qualified you for a free turkey" . . . so NOW I have one small frozen turkey in my freezer . . . and thinking "I have to cook this thing!!!"

Anyone have a recipe for Sheesh Turkey???

hahaha . . . I guess I'll be hauling this bird out of the freezer in a few days and thinking about cooking it . . . but does my over still work?? Heheheh, I haven't used it in a long time!

Thanks, Liz! I am feeling much better. I slept until 4 pm yesterday, and then from 8 pm until 3 am and then from 4 am until now. Wow! Doodle, I didn't call my doctor, but I will be sure to if I get it again. I'm not big on doctors for some reason. Charles suggested that the headache could be related to my accident. I don't think so, just bcause I didn't hit my head at all. Hopefully it was just an isolated episode that is behind me. But don't worry, if it recurrs, I will be sure to get it checked out.

No big plans for the day. Housecleaning, grocery shopping, and hopefully going to see Babel. For now, I need to make some breakfast - I think brownies sound like a great idea! :D

I think brownies sound great for breakfast! With hot cocoa and marshmallows?

Doodle, you're kidding, she's in Savannah? I'll have to ask around. Maybe that's a tradition among the upper class here or something. I wouldn't know about that because we're just normal folks. ;)

Catherine, I have Julie Child's turkey recipe where you take out all the bones except the leg bones and put the breast meat back in all layered with a dressing then sew it up and bake it. I tried it one year when I was married to my second husband and trying to be the perfect housewife. It wasn't too bad, but a lot of work. Want me to post it, if I ever get it typed? (I have your check for the hip scarf ready to mail, can you post the link again so I can show it to Abdel?)

Melly, we used to play Monopoly a lot when I was a kid, but my dad was one of those people who couldn't stand to lose, so it was never any fun. I don't miss it now.

here it is again, Liz!

HipScarves

That recipe sounds interesting, but not sure I want to remove all the bones . . . although, layering the meat with dressing sounds like a good idea, hehe. I always like the turkey "stuffed" but now they don't recommend doing it. Oh, and I've tried spicy sausage as part of the dressing and find it quite tasty . . . i've never had oysters in dressing.

I love Paula Deen, she is hilarious to me. She might be wealthy now, but she didn't start out that way. In fact, she spent many years of her life suffering from severe agoraphobia. If I remember correctly, a Food Network producer went to her Lady & Sons restaurant and happened to see her, and found her to be charming and funny, then she got a show. She has entire episodes when they go oyster hunting, as she says, and her husband owns a shrimp boat. Of course, part of why I like her is, her pups are always in the kitchen with her, and she talks to them while she cooks!

You're right, threads are so much nicer when you don't start out mud slinging. Thanks for starting out much better today without calling people out, I think that's great for fostering more pleasant chat. Thank you.

It's a dog park day today....have to get them out and running before we starting our "rainy season" in CA. B)

Hey Catherine, would you know where someone might buy some less-expensive scarves in a large lot, maybe 75 of them? They do not need to be elaborately decorated.

thanks.

How can one claim God cares to judge a fornicator over judging a lying, conniving bully? I guess you would if you are the lying, conniving bully.

Not going to venture out for yard work now . . . . but chicken soup stil is to be made!!!

and I still have burrito recipes to try, LOL!!!

i was thinking not just about the possibility of you hitting your head, but the jerking motion of your head on impact. that can rupture blood vessels. just concerned about you, i know it's unusual :P(F)
