For those who bring their kids in the Philippines. Did you guys bring a car seat for your kid/s during your vacation in the Philippines? What other stuff you guys bring with you? I am bringing my one year old then baby to the Philippines.

We did this with our oldest.

We used China Air as they had bulkhead cribs that were a life saver!!

A car seat would have been pointless as there were no seat belts in the van we hired and the in-laws would never have allowed her to sit in it anyway as they were too busy passing her around.

Our daughter just loved it! She was the center of attension and just sucked it in!

Just returned 3 weeks ago from a remote region of Leyte province (north of Ormoc) via Cebu with a 4 yr old and 19-month old. Car seat would be of no use, as noted most car/van riders do npt use seat belts anyway and are jam packed, with small kids riding in laps. Most of our local travel was via motorcycle.

Most of what we carried with us or sent ahead was intended to stay there when we returned. A cheap umbrella stroller was only of use at the airport or the few rare times we were able to use it during short walks on the paved road. We left it there also when we departed for home.

Loose clothing is a must, and also a pair or two of sandals with straps that can be fastened to keep them on the feet, if the little one is taking steps. Too many harmful objects on the ground for tender feet.

We basically brought the medicine chest with us as well - if not needed while we were there, it would be left also - Childrens and Infant Advil, Benadryl and Calamine lotion, (itching from bug bites), baby lotion, grooming items (nail clippers, etc) bandaids, Neosporin - anti-bacterial cream, vitamins for the older child, digital thermometer, etc.

Since our little guy likes his milk (bottle) we purchased a new refrigerator for the family in advance of our arrival to keep things to be kept cold cold (bad experience 3 years eariler with our then 1 year old).

We did send a box of baby wipes ahead in the 3 BB boxes shipped, but we could find disposable diapers there no problem.

Don't forget about travel snacks for the long flights - Goldfish, small crackers, mini-cookies. Flight attendants will fill a bottle with whole milk. And, the child's favorite snuggly thing - blanket, etc. Might consider a misquito net for sleeping/naps. We didn't use, but that might have prevented some of the bug bites.

It's a terribly unnerving to travel with very small children on such a long, tough trip. We've done it twice now and have survived.

Good luck.
