I got an email about getting the I129f approved and that I will be getting something in the mail.

The notice will be mailed to a different address many states away from me, I will have to get someone to get it and mail it to me.

There is going to be a delay before I receive it and I want to know what is in that packet?

What can I do right now to prepare for it so when I finally get it there is a quick turnaround for me to get it back in the mail?

How about timeframe for getting through this next step? How long is it taking other people currently?

Anything my fiancee should be doing at this point?

I would like to know what a best guess is for how long it the average time is from when I complete this step and getting to interview?

Also does anyone know about the Guayaquil consulate and their restrictions of taking things to interview? I heard you cannot take anything and if you even take a cell phone you are sent away and have to reschedule the interview. I also heard if you take too much information that it is not good. I have a file folder about 10 inches thick, will they send me away for having all of that with me?

thank you very much,

Wade

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Congratulations on the petition approval, Amigo!

You'll be getting the notice of the approval, a single letter. It's good to have the original to take to the interview, but there's plenty of time.

Your fiancee should get (from you) a complete copy of the I-129F petition package that you sent to USCIS. (You made a copy, si man?) That way, she'll be able to study everything that you sent in, and know the answers if asked.

It will take some time before GYQ receives the approved petition from USCIS. Interview-scheduling is taking at LEAST a couple of months. Go atop any VJ page, click "Embassy Info" and "Reviews: Embassy," and read what recent interviewees have to say about the mechanics of the scheduling and the interview. I'll come back here to give you the ID of a young lady who just got her interview date, and you & she can correspond. She's doing a CR-1, so the process will differ a little, but she'll be of help.

Your thick file folder will be NO problem to bring along. You'll have to check your cell phones either at the entrance (I think it's that, now) or outside. As with any consulate, no electronic media (CDs, DVDs, etc.) are allowed in. There might be other such prohibitions, such as lighters, pocketknives, and similar.

Getting back to the file folder, you can NEVER bring too much information along to that consulate. In fact, when you know the interview date (this will take some time to get, most likely), plan to be in Guayaquil at least a full day (better, two days) ahead so that you can take a lot of fotos of yourselves together, get them developed (at the big mall is a good place), and bring them along to shove under the window. As we've discussed before, the most crucial thing is for YOU to be present when she interviews, si man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

TB gave you most of the info you'll need, but if you have any questions feel free to PM me and I'll give you any info I can. You can expect a month or two of waiting for an interview - although I believe K-1s get interviews more quickly than CR-1s, GYE is still slow and overloaded - and insofar as stuff to take, you're right: you can take in NOTHING except the documents needed for the interview. No bags, no cell phones, nothing. You'd be wise to read up on the consulate reviews available here on VJ, and if you head over to the embassy subforum there's a thread devoted entirely to the Guayaquil consulate that has a lot of useful info, too.

Like I said, any other specific questions feel free to PM me and ask! Lots of luck. good.gif

...........

Thank you very much, as you may remember I have already been there several times, I rented an apartment for 3 months last year and we got about a thousand photos of us together, I was there again in January and February this year. My next trip will be to go stay for about a month during the interview process. I hope to go a week or two in advance and then spend more time with her family before she comes back with me. I am indeed thinking positive that we will get approved! Although I have been very nervous and had a lot of anxiety over this already.

I will send you a message with part of our online photo gallery if you want to see our trips around Ecuador.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! I will do a bit more reading and you can count on a question or two :)

This may seem straightforward to those who have been through it, but to me it seems overwhelming at times. Maybe it more the stress and anxiety I place on myself because of fears of not getting approved.
