Fee in suspense-greencard fee?

Hello people,

So my POE date was April 10th and my SSN arrived to me on 18th smoothly(seems it was actually mailed on 16th or 17th but we were away for 2 days). Now my health insurance is covered by my husband's company(I got my healthcare card even before my SSN arrived because husband's company only asked for my name, birth date and alien number); I have my own cellphone number and I am signed up for the road test to get my driver's license. I have everything, except the greencard!

Anyways today we got an I-797C from USCIS, saying we have an "OS155A Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration" case and the notice type is Fee in Suspense. I checked up the receipt # on the USCIS site and my case status reads as follows:

" Initial Review

On April 25, 2013, we determined that a filing fee for your OS155A IMMIGRANT VISA AND ALIEN REGISTRATION is not required. This case is being processed at our TEXAS SERVICE CENTER location...."

I assume the Fee means the $165 we paid online after visa package and before I entered US? Now what does "fee is not required" mean? Does it mean we are going to get a refund or something? Will it affect my greencard?

Check my case status and it's already been updated today:

"On April 26, 2013, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you..."

Guess we are not going to have our refund after all but at least the card is on its way! That fee in suspense notice really did nothing good but made us nervous!

btw, doesn't everyone know if we really need to wait for 30 days to get the greencard? Will it arrive faster than that? Will it be mailed by post office or some other carriers? Thanks a lot.

it comes in via first class mail with USPS tracking.

At some point, the tracking # will be visible, you can then track it at USPS.com

Thanks for the info Darnell!

Yes it would be interesting to post a review on shopping for Chinese food/cooking or slim petite women.

Anywhere appropriate to post something like that in this forum.

I also received a 1-797 notice.... Called USCIS and they asked me to pay the fee and mail the copy of the notice with the receipt of the payment. Called back in 8-10 days, USCIS said to resend the letters because there was glitch in their system. It has been over 20 days and still have not heard anything

update:

USCIS is funny. This morning I checked my online status and it has changed from "we ordered production of your new card" into "

Decision

On April 26, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."

Hopefully it is on its way to me soon..sleepy.gifsleepy.gifsleepy.gif
