Hey everybody,

Thanks to your help I have been able to complete all the paperwork for my first submission in the K-1 Fiance visa process. I have one last question before the waiting game starts. My fiancee is a Chinese national in Japan right now on a student visa, and I'm here in Japan on a tourist visa. In a few months, both of those will expire and we'll be heading elsewhere. It seems like we have a couple options, and I'd like to know what you guys think the best choice is.

1. Wait until we both leave Japan, file at that time, and use my American address and her Chinese address, and stay in our respective countries. This is the least desirable if we can avoid it.

2. File now, and use my parent's address and her parent's address for our addresses. We can both get mail there, so as long as the government doesn't care that we don't actually "live" there at the moment, this would be best.

I have the pleasure of working from home, so I haven't had a permanent residence for a couple of years. I just travel around with my laptop and work from wherever. So if possible, I'd like to spend time with my fiancee while we wait out the submission process.

Any helpful hints or experiences you've had are appreciated.

Thanks everyone,

Sean

You should be using number 2 already. She is a student, so her "HOME" address is not in Japan but back in China, and since you are in Japan on a tourist visa your "HOME" address is also not in Japan either, but back in the USA, probably your parent's home.

Since she has been in Japan depending on how long she may have to get a police report from Japan and may want to do that before she returns to China. Also get plenty of proof that you have meet in person, pictures showing you together with notable landmarks, and perhaps something that shows a date on it with you in the picture.

Good Luck with your Journey.
