Moved threads to Off topic

Of course people know there are many ways of celebrating Christmas.

And of course people know there are many types of religion.

What's wrong with discussing these topics where ALL are likely to see them and learn HOW they are celebrated. And learn about the differences in religions?

so the threads where moved because

1. Christmas doesn't happen in the ME/NA therefore was moved to off topic

2. There are no christians of middle eastern descent or north african descent in ME/NA forum or any christians for that matter.

3. People in off topic needed to know more about where christmas originated.

4. It's rude to ask why topics are moved

When I made the thread someone could have just said that instead of saying we bicker too much in there.

Actually the only official reason came from Capt'n Ewok (admin).

"they were moved because they were moved".

The rest is speculative and/or off topic to your original question.

Not entirely sure if #4 is a dig at my trying to answer peezey as to why they had been rude, but I'll choose to address it as if it were.

Funny, I was addressing rude behavior by an individual. Yes, in my second post I did ask why there was such a furor over them being moved, but I never linked the two. I honestly don't give a rat's azz where the threads started, where they are now, or where they'll be tomorrow. If you want my suggestion as to where they should be, I'd be happy to tell you where to put them, but until then perhaps you should limit your leaps of logic to within the boundaries of reality.

Now, I can appreciate your sarcasm. It's a powerful tool. But are you really honestly telling us that Christmas should only apply to ME/NA? Last I checked it was pretty near worldwide. (Sorry if I'm breaching ME/NA protocol....should that have been worded: "Any adult knows that Christmas is celebrated worldwide."?)

Where were we? Oh right. I think all threads should be moved to the ME/NA forum from this point forward, as it's obvious the center of the universe is there and that all information is only relevant if filtered through ME/NA. It's the obvious solution.

Exactly! The Ramadan threads were not moved , like Lisa said there Muslim community goes far beyond the Middle East and North Africa. I think its an easy stereotype for many to think that there are arabs that don't celebrate Christmas and its one I have dealt with my entire life. People are usually shocked to find out I'm Christian. The person that made those threads obviously wanted them in ME/NA for a reason. I am not opposed to having people from other parts of VJ participate at all, but there was no reason to move it at all.

It seems to me that everyone wants to tell everyone in ME/NA how to post, how to think, what to do, etc. There is just as much, if not more cattiness in OT. There are also times when there is no fighting at all. The fact of the matter is, you can move the ME/NA threads but most ME/NA people won't continue to post in them because many of us don't venture out of ME/NA. I have learned over the months that OT is a rather hostile place for an Arab to hang out in. Its hard not to get into a million debates and fights in here , so I just stay out.

Its really quite simple, if you don't like what goes on in ME/NA then don't go there. However don't come in there and try to tell us what we should do, how we should behave, how we should think.

admin can do exactly that in regards to the TOS, just as they do for all the forums on VJ. ME/NA is not a board and rule unto itself, it is part of the VJ community, period.

Are you sure about that. You cannot speak for all. As has been stated before, the regional forums are not something that has always existed and there were plenty from ME/NA that actively participated in VJ. I think you would be surprised JP at just how many don't post in ME/NA any more.

i have a headache after reading this. its crazy. the Christmas threads were posted in MENA so what leave them there........certainly Christmas is for all the world that celebrates, regardless of how.....but who says a Christmas thread posted in a regional forum had to be moved to off topic to suite other regions? if they wanted to 'talk' about Christmas either a, they could make their own thread or b, they could join the thread there, why does it have to be moved to benefit others........i dont see the problem with it being there............ *confuzzeled* as always lol

The Admin said they got moved because they got moved. Anything else as to reasons on this thread is speculation.

Getting wound up because of perceived reasons or guesses everyone's making here is not going to help much. If it's really such a big deal that some don't want to discuss Christmas with others who might be celebrating as well (oh the irony), then PM the admin and ask for it to be changed. Or maybe, since there is already another Christmas thread over in the ME/NA forum, this matter might just be, um, over?
