I don't care if you or any other regular in OT say what you want. that's ok I thought that was what this site was for to express our opinions as long as it didn't violate the TOS.

As for myself I don't need an attitude adjustment I am fine just the way I am. If you don't like it then you just don't like it. who cares!

The purpose of the site is to offer support and information via way of experience in family based immigration matters.

I think this sort of illustrates something. Many of the people involved in the bickering are *not* taking things as serious as other people think. It seems to be the ones not involved that think it is something bigger and more personal, and that get riled up.

I had a feeling the smilies were sincere.

My point was that her typed words are the kind of thing that get stuff going. Without the smilies. And that's all I was trying to say. Seriously.

You are right on about that. If the bickering is affecting your life don't really see how the me/na bickering could be affecting other people who don't have a spouse or fiance in the me/na on vj. I guess the content of what is being talked about hits a sore spot with some. et al..being old

I don't think moving any thread to OT is going to help matters. There is a reason why many ME/NA members don't come here. If everyone thinks we are so catty and so bad then why do you keep coming to the ME/NA forums? I just don't get that.

Furthermore, I would really like to know why the Christmas threads were moved out of ME/MA, I am extremely offended by that.

We "Non-MENA" people come to the forum by clicking on a topic we saw on the Recent Topics that interested us. All of the topics that were moved had titles that wouldn't have told someone that they were MENA in nature. As such, someone would go to that thread, and if there was a side argument going on (as there frequently is) someone would invariably post a link or make a reference to another post/topic. People, being mostly curious, would go look to see what was going on.

I don't know if this was Ewoks' thinking (or any of his "member.." moderators), but it makes a sort of sense to me. Many, many people use the New Posts tab and don't search through the forums at all. If you can move any ambiguously titled thread out of a "hot-spot" forum (ie: ME/NA), people won't be IN that forum without knowing it. For instance, if I see a post about Xmas on the New Posts pages, the LAST place I'm going to expect that post to be is in the MENA forum.

As for the root cause of the way the MENA forum is seen these days; I don't know. I would guess it started when people were posting topics about terrorists in OT and the Mean Sisters would go on a full-scale assault blasting people for saying Muslim and Terrorist in the same breath. (Even though the terrorists WERE Muslim, just maybe not THEIR kind of Muslim)

I don't know, really. That was what made me even realize that there WAS a MENA forum on VJ. Had never been there, that I knew of.

JP, I think I can answer your question.

Since you are active in MENA, you know that you don't often see me in there. I'm one of those who subscribes to what you advocate - I don't like the meowing and fighting so I don't go there.

BUT, as I tried to say earlier, some posters are going to gravitate to ANY thread where there is an uproar going on.

When you girls get a really good mud-wrestling match going, it becomes entertainment. And as long as there are threads like that happening in MENA, some members are going to go there to watch.
