How can I sensitively phrase this? LOL

Like it or not, there is a perception by many people that some of these MENA relationships are fraudulent.

Hence, when the bickering commences, especially about religion or cultural differences....well it's my opinion that the bickering MENA members almost open themselves up for ridicule. The bizarre arguments allow for that 'petri dish' phenomenon wherein the doubters and those looking for entertainment will come in just to watch the fray.

I think this to a great extent is true and part of the problem. Many NA/ME members are blunt or have very unpleasant forum board attitudes. Many are also too sensitive and can not or will not allow these upsetting comments to pass. bad combination.

So what's the solution?

Stop being so sensitive and grow up......LOL

Seriously. Realize that not everybody is going to embrace the same moral standards, practice their faith in the same way, etc. And let that be.

I was serious. We can tallk all day about whats wrong with this forum, I think its better to talk about solutions.

I honestly dont' know because I don't think any of this matters in the real world. It's an online forum with as many personalities as members. I personally see nothing wrong with people ignoring what they don't like and/or working things out amongst themselves. I find it totally absurd people actually report threads and members for "insults"....when it gets down to someone threatening your life, ok, report them, until then, move along. I just really don't see why this matters to anyone.

Well at the end of the day you are right. It really shouldn't matter.

There was a time (2-3 years or so ago) where there were no regional forums here. I believe they were created to help people learn about cultures, and also to assist with immigration issues specific to different regions. At any rate, before the regional forums, there really WAS more of an atmosphere of 'peace' in this community. People were friends with members from all over the world.

That kind of a reaction is what doesn't help things. Don't overread or overreact. Remember that with communication by words, the tone of voice and facial expression isn't there to help digest the message.

And also remember that some people really aren't very good expressing themselves in writing......

I just don't think it was a good idea to move these threads, as you can see it had caused more discord and probably more tomorrow when other members come and post. Then it will be a free for all.

It's like when off topic had all the muslim bashing going on now it's going to be the me/na forum bashing. Yeah great idea!

I don't think there's any discord going on here. So far the discussion seems enlightened and cordial enough - at least to me.

Perhaps if some of the MENA 'offenders' get a dose of their own medicine from some of the regulars in OT, their attitudes might get - well - 'adjusted'?

In a VJ long ago...................before regional forums, my best buddies were the Canadian girls. Darb, Zen and Reba kept me sane thru a painful time. I am so so so glad I don't have to rely on the current crowd for support.

ME/NA Forum is very much a part of the immigration section of VJ. Off Topic is off topic, hence why certain threads have obviously been moved.......they are off topic and not specific to the ME/NA Forum.

No it isn't. It is under General Discussion Area, the same section OT is under. The Immigration forums are separate.

The topics that seem to of been moved however where NOT specific to ME/NA, hence moved to OT. Seems simple enough to me.

I don't care if you or any other regular in OT say what you want. that's ok I thought that was what this site was for to express our opinions as long as it didn't violate the TOS.
